Hey Sidney….yep that was an error….and an error that has been corrected.
You did a grave injustice by omitting Nelson Eddy’s name from the movie Rose Marie which you rank as number 12. Instead you put Jimmy Stewart who was an “unknown” being only his second picture and he was on the screen only for a short few minutes. Eddy’s whole performance as the epitome of the Canadian Mountie skyrocketed the mounties to their heights of fame….and when the Mounties retired their famous red serge uniform in the 70’s the press reported it by using a photo of Nelson Eddy as the Mountie. Come on, now.

Some of these gross figures seem kind of high. And I was wondering what multiplying number you arrived at to get the gross figure. I thought that you were using 2.86 but that would make some of the rental figures too high. For instance “Lloyd’s of London” had domestic rentals of $2,000,000 and if your multiplying number was 2.86 the gross should be $5,720,000 and not $6,700,000. Please tell me what equation your using to arrive at these grosses. Thank you.
Hey Lyle…..every year is different…..for 1936…..we have a multiplier of 3.34….that is based on a study that looked at rentals to gross for every year….found that study a couple of years ago.
What is “The Son of Captain Blood” doing here? That movie didn’t come out until the 60s. Do you mean the first “Captain Blood”? Though that came out in December of 1935.
