  1. Minions 2 would now be Van Damme’s highest grossing film as of 2022 taking the top spot from Kung Fu panda 2. I have been a huge fan of JCVDs since Bloodsport and ran across your page via Google search. Lol awesome page!

    1. Hey Vince. I have not seen his new show, but I saw a trailer that looked interesting. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I’ve seen 19 of the 24 films listed here. Back in the 80s and 90s I would try to watch any movie that looked like it had a lot of action. Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan were the other martial artists I would be seeking out in the ‘VHS’ era.

Van Damme favorites include – Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Universal Soldier, Timecop, Expendables 2 and the Kung Fu Pandas.

Looking at the adjusted worldwide box office he didn’t do too badly considering how poorly received some of those films were.

I knew about the Predator thing. The actor who did play the alien was over 7ft tall and also played Bigfoot Harry in ‘Harry and Hendersons’ which came out the same year.

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….not thinking anybody is going to top your tally of 19…..unless Flora really really surprises me. JCVD had an awesome 1990s. But things have not been so bright since then. Of the four martial artists you mentioned….only Jackie Chan does not have an UMR page.

I also enjoyed the first Universal Soldier…..but all the sequels have been pretty bad. Time Cop and Expendables 2 would be in my Top 3 JCVD movies. Always had a soft spot for The Quest if only for the late great Sir Roger.

The attached video really shows how JCVD would get frustrated with his Predator role. He probably thought the orange suit was going to ruin his just beginning role.

Surprisingly Box Office Mojo does not have many of his worldwide grosses…..had to use another source for that information.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy New Year.

      1. Happy New Year Bruce! Hopefully we’ll see more of you at the UMR in 2018. You were barely present in 2017 and missed some juicy posts from me and Bob, most recently trashing your idol Sir Michael Caine. [Bruce gasps] It was a bloodbath. 😉

btw I’ve had my Xmas break uploading videos to youtube. I’ll be back in 2018.

        1. Hey Steve.
          1. Thank you.
          2. I saw the comments about Sir Michael…..and yes it got “juicy” at times. I figured my views would be thrown out because of my bias….lol.
          3. Opposite way of using the Xmas break…I am frantically trying to catch up on some errors here, getting my Letterboxd reviews done before 2018, doing my year in review pages done here, and doing all the holiday stuff too….all before heading back to work on Tuesday.
          4. Look forward to your 2018 videos……our 2018 will see a new UMR look….hopefully on professional logos, marketing and banners will be completed in the next week or so.
          Happy New Year.
