  1. I had a movie marathon on his performances recently… Watched 20 of his movies and a tv show. The best thing about this man is that he has such commanding presence on the screen that makes him capable of playing the roles most actors might baby away from. He worked on three films with McQueen all of them were spot on.
I loved his performances in macbeth and Jane Eyre. Even in movies like fish tank or counselor you can see that he put everything to do sth remarkable.
And then there was Frank. Beautiful performance even when you never really see his face till the very end.

So if I wanna rate I’d say in all the 20 movies I saw I absolutely loved 15 and I never really seen such continuesly strong performance. That guy is truly an artist.

    1. Hey Hany….wow a Michael Fassbinder movie marathon. I enjoyed reading your mini-reviews of some of his movies. I agree he and Steve McQueen (the director) have made a nice trilogy of movies. Frank was such a strange but interesting movie. I have not seen Fish Tank in a long time…sadly I do not remember that one too much. Glad you really enjoyed 15 of those 20 movies. Great comment.

  2. Where are all the fassy fans? I am disappointed. Seems your site appeals more to classic film fans than modern cinema nuts Bruce. Oh yeah just reporting in to say I watched X-Men Apocalypse last night, not the best in the series but I enjoyed it. Fassy was causing problems for the team as usual, Magneto has been a bother for let’s see… all 6 X-Men films in a now, enough already. I like Fassbender in the role but lets have something original next time, either he becomes a team player or leave him out of it.

    1. Well, I have not seen any of this man’s films and the page was published the same day that Ann-Margaret’s was.

      Fassy, really?

Looking at his photograph, Steve Jobs’s photograph and “Fassy” as Jobs – I got to say I think they got the right man for the role.

The only other film if his that I can see me seeking out is Jane Eyre, because I love this novel.

      1. Hi Flora, I saw Steve Jobs, Fassy was excellent in the role but the film wasn’t that great. Jobs was brilliant but not the nicest person to put it mildly. The film tries to endow him with some humanity thru his troubled relationship with his daughter.

        1. Hey Steve….no problem with typos…I make them all the time. As for Steve Jobs…..I agree with you 100 percent. I like the performances…but the way the movie was set up was strange. The daughter plot line made him look terrible (justly do) but it was filmed like the daughter was a ghost haunting him…..just too strange for my taste.

      2. Hey Flora….so far Fassy has two Orson Welles roles on his resume….Jane Eyre and Macbeth….you might like both of those movies. He is one of the busiest actors working today…..but Ann-Margret got 4 times the views Fassy got…..so the classic performer outperformed the young buck….lol. Thanks for commenting. It is greatly appreciated.

    2. Thanks for the mini-review. Next up is The Suicide Squad….goodness there are lots of comic book movies out there. I think Magneto has the same problem as Wolverine….after so many movies….they (the writers) have nowhere to take his character.

Hey….Fassy is starting to get some comments…..lol.

  3. I like him, just not an event actor yet. Most of his roles have been supporting, and when is the lead they tend to struggle. He probably has a very long career ahead of him. Interesting page as always.

    1. Hey Stein good point about him being a supporting actor in his big hits….and the lead actor in his not so big hits. All the movies he is appearing in …I think he will get a huge solo hit soon. Thanks for the nice words.

  4. Where are the comments? No one interested in ‘Fassy’? Just saw his nickname in the trivia box. Nice but Mike would have been better. 🙂

I first saw Fassbender in 300 chopping limbs off the attacking Persians. But it was in X-Men First Class that I noticed how well he could have played a certain British secret agent. Looks like fellow Marvel villain Tom Hiddleston might be the front runner for Bond though.

I’ve seen 13 of the 20 films listed. Favorites include the X-Men movies, 300, Inglourious Basterds and Prometheus.

I have not seen – Jane Eyre, Hunger, Shame or Fish Tank.

12 Years a Slave was a well made, well acted movie which won a few Oscars but I doubt I’ll be revisiting it any time soon.

    Good work Bruce. Voted Up!

    1. Hey Steve….yep “Fassy” is getting no respect when it comes to comments….he is doing better in views…though he is getting smoked by Ann-Margret…I published both pages at the same time….and after a day she is outperforming him by 150%.

I liked 300….and I liked Fassbender’s role in 300 a lot…..actually his role was my favorite in the movie….I however did not realize that was “Fassy” until writing this page. I saw his name on 300…and thought…I do not remember him…..then I was shocked when I googled….”Fassbender 300 Images” and up popped the role I liked so much. Extremely disappointed in myself…that I never connected those dots.

Tally count….13 for you…..and 16 for me…I actually just watched Steve Jobs last night….I was not impressed with the movie….but he was excellent as Jobs. Finally I agree with you about 12 Years…..not a movie that begs to be re-watched. Thanks for visiting.
