I haven’t seen many of Michael Shannon but I just saw The Shape of Water yesterday. Very creative and endearing film and Shannon was excellent in a major role. I was also surprised that Shannon has appeared in so many movies and I did not know he was nominated for best supporting actor in Revolutionary Road. Thanks for all the info!
Hey PhilHoF17……glad you got the chance to see The Shape of Water….it was on schedule to see this weekend….but then WoC got sick….it might be a challenge to see it before the Oscars now……but maybe we will get that chance….I mean I HAVE to see a movie that picked up 13 Oscar nominations.

I have seen Mr. Shannon a few times on some stage work. A very intense actor. I remember reading, viewing a story on Poitier and Shannon. The great Sidney thought Shannon’s style was either weird or strange. I forget which one. Anyway I bet many people think that about Shannon’s screen persona. I like this UMR pick.

I think the first time I noticed Michael Shannon in a movie was in Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor, in a somewhat comedic role as a wise-cracking soldier during the Japanese attack. Wouldn’t have guessed he would later become a respected actor.
I’ve seen 16 of the 46 films on the chart. Favorites include – Groundhog Day, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, Midnight Special, Elvis & Nixon, Pearl Harbor, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman.
The Shape of Water has had rave reviews, looking forward to watching that in the near future.
I don’t see much resemblance between Walken and Shannon, except they’re both wearing ties? Btw I’m pretty sure that shot of Walken is from A View to a Kill, in which he played evil mastermind Max Zorin. Have you done a page on Walken yet Bruce? [cue distant screams]

1. Wow…this comment came in fast….I was still adding in trailers when it popped up. Thanks for being so quick….and thanks for stopping by.
2. I have not yet seen Pearl Harbor….I have seen the end……when Affleck single handily won the war….but have still not seen the first half.
3. I actually did not know Shannon was in that movie….he has made 2 Michael Bay movies…Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys 2.
4. I have seen 35 of his movies….he has many direct to home entertainment movies….and when I look at those…my total reaches 43….I did not realize I was such a fan.
5. My favorites would Groundhog Day (we match), Midnight Special (we match again…and you think I do not like sci-fi movies), The Night Before (he is pretty funny), Before The Devil Knows Your Dead (we match…though movie is depressing as hell). and Premium Rush….guilty pleasure for me.
6. I want to see The Shape of Water…..I heard Sally Hawkins is awesome in the movie.

8. I did my Walken page in 2011 when on Hub Pages…..I remember when it got some none family member comments on the page (a reader wanted to know why I had excluded Annie Hall)….it really pleasantly surprised me. It made me think….”Hey….people are actually reading this stuff).
