  1. Hey Bruce,
like Flora I loved Remington Steele way back in the 80’s. They had great guest stars like Virginia Mayo, Dorothy Lamour and others. One episode I remember was one big hommage to North by Northwest. Also, I felt Doris Roberts was so funny as “sidekick” Mildred Krebbs.
Of the films above, I’ve seen 23. I liked him as James Bond and other favs include Thomas Crown, Love Is All You Need , The Mirror has 2 Faces (although I didn’t like it upon first viewing, this one has grown on me since), the not mentioned Robinson Crusoe, Dante’s Peak and Mamma Mia…although I am most certainly no fan of his singing in that one!!! Not sure a sequel is the best idea, but with the ww boxoffice PLUS huge DVD/Bluray sales at least in Europe, it seems inevitable.
Always wondered what became of Stephanie Zimbalist after Remington turned 007…she has never been heard of again in Germany. To quote another frequent visitor to this site: Thumbs Up!

    1. Hey Lupino…thanks for checking out my latest UMR page. Sounds like Remington Steele has collected a pretty good amount of fans…I might have to check out a few episodes in the near future. Good to know they used some of those classic performers. The North by Northwest episode sounds really interesting.

Tally count…me 30, you 23, Steve 22 and Flora 10…..wow….it is rare that I lead the way….I just want to thank my wife, my agent, my……lol. I thought he did well in his singing in Mamma Mia. I was actually shocked that Mamma Mia out grossed all of his Bond movies when looking at adjusted worldwide gross…..his second biggest hit. I can not see the sequel doing nearly as well. His Remington Steele partner has been active…but I have not heard of many of her latest IMDb credits. Thanks for the comment and the thumbs up.

  2. 1 WORK HORSE & STEVE I very much welcome this new Pierce Brosnan page as Pierce and I share at least 3 common interests (1) movies obviously (2) he follows tennis (3) he is a fan of Roger Federer and turned up at Wimbledon a few years ago to support Roger and the pair of them were interviewed jointly on a rooftop at the Centre. Also I see he was born in Drogheda Ireland where I have holidayed.

2 I have said before –probably to boos and other howls of derision from Phil Simmons and others in the pit– that I enjoyed Pierce’s 1999 Thomas Crown more than McQueen’s 1968 effort. When Pierce’s movie was released in 1999 I watched the McQueen version back to back with the Brosnan flick and felt that Steve’s film had become rather dated. This site does not agree with me and gives the McQueen movie the marginal benefit by 70.67% to 67%. I was pleased to see a worldwide gross for the 1999 version though such a gross is not available for the 1968 movie. WH’s domestic grosses for the two movies are a virtual dead heat.

3 Steve landed the first punch with a Brosnan profile when he did his exciting James Bond series a month or so ago. You are both agreed on 3 of the top 5 but it will be a rare week indeed when you two guys don’t catch me by surprise in one way or another and this time the surprise was in the shape of Tailor of Panama which WH makes No 5 for critic/audience and Steve has as his lowly No 20. I’ll have to pass on this one as I’ve never seen it but I will congratulate you both for including The Ghost Writer in your Top 5s because whilst it was not a box office success I found it artistically very satisfying. Anyway once more a comprehensive statistical and general information page complements a first-class video.

    1. Hey Bob
      1. Thanks for checking out look at Irish actors.
      2. Good to know he is fan and friend of Roger Federer….and that he was born where you vacation.
      3. I like both Thomas Crown Affair movies…I think combined they are the perfect movie…..cut out the music videos in the original…..keep Denis Leary as the cop……have the getaway being all the men in the hats….but then use the original ending where McQueen is flying…and Dunaway is in the cemetery.
      4. Mmmm…I did not realize Tailor of Panama was that highly rated on this site…..it is a decent movie….but certainly not my favorite Pierce movie….so I would think 5 is too high personally…..but the stats I have say differently. Good example of me not always agreeing with my own UMR rankings and scores.
      Good feedback as always.

      1. HI BRUCE1 Agreed that the Windmills of Your Mind was a great theme song for the 1968 Thomas Crown flick. I’m sure Dan would have been pleased at Faye being a link between the two movies.

2 You will see that in answer to Phil who seemed to think I was accusing him of wasting his time by expressing reservations about Steve’s video selections I told him, in not very serious mode I must admit but rather tongue in cheek, that I was referring not to him but to how some of my own “sweetness” hand been “wasted on the desert air”. So I didn’t expect either you or Steve to “blink first” over Tailor of Panama and in expressing your own reservations about the high rating you have given me my 2nd surprise in 24 hours in connection with that movie

3 Another Dan-like link between Federer and the movie world is that Hugh Jackman is a close friend of his and led the toasts at Roger’s 36th recent birthday celebration recently. There are plenty of pictures in the sports pages of Fed and Hugh along with their 2 wives posing for photographs. I think that just as in the old days Fairbanks Sr and Pickford transcended movies and became part of Hollywood “royalty” so today Fed has transcended tennis and become part of sporting “royalty” and indeed Mary and Doug had, and Roger has friends, who are people in REAL Royal circles. It was the desire to rub shoulders with Royals and other is high society that writers attribute to Doug and Mary considering Chaplin an embarrassment It’s a pity that you have lost interest in tennis Bruce or you could be getting excited about the following trivia, but close your eyes nd pretend they’re talking about Sir Maurice instead of Roger.

“ROGER FEDERER was a guest at Pippa Middleton’s wedding this weekend – and here’s why he was there. By JACK WILSONPUBLISHED: 13:09, Mon, May 22, 2017 | UPDATED: 13:09, Mon, May 22, 2017. Pippa, sister of Kate the Duchess of Cambridge is a huge tennis fan and she struck up a friendship with Federer having met at Wimbledon. The pair have stayed in touch ever since. After being employed to write for Vanity Fair magazine in 2013, Pippa used her celebrity connections to get an exclusive interview with Federer for the publication.

ROGER FEDERER invited Prince William for a game of table tennis at Pippa ‘s wedding reception – and this is the video to show the future king would have been CRUSHED! A VIDEO OF PRINCE WILLIAM PLAYING TABLE TENNIS HAS EMERGED WITH ROGER FEDERER CLEAR WINNER

The Duchess of Cambridge has said her mum has a crush on Roger Federer. Kate made the revelation while speaking of her love of the sport ahead of Wimbledon next week. Roger has become a friend of the Middletons and actor Bradley Cooper has also been rubbing shoulders with that circle

        1. Thanks Bob…lots of good information here. The comment box is always open….everybody suggestions can and do get heard….just they might not always be acted upon….lol. Good stuff about Pierce, Roger and William.

As for tennis….yeah that horse has left the barn a very long time ago. I was actually pretty decent at that sport. For two semesters at college I would go down to the tennis courts and find random players to play with. I would keep the results in a notebook I carried (I know you are shocked that I would keep track of numbers and such). Anyway….at one point I was 48-1……anyway…I thought I was awesome…one of those wins was an epic battle with a Russian exchange student.

So thinking I was unbeatable….I next challenged a Middle East exchange student….and he pretty much wiped the floor with me…..which quickly showed me what a really good tennis player looked like….and it was not me. I remember I played pretty well….but could only manage to win 3 games….in two sets! After the match…he told me….”I like playing with you…you make me run”. Got the impression I was a mouse and he was a cat….lol. Sorry….went off on a tennis rant.

          1. HI BRUCE
1 Interesting information about your tennis days. Thanks for sharing it. It’s hard usually to get film buffs away from films and onto other activities. I’ve been giving Steve gentle hints that he should take up trainspotting as I have an English cousin who is obsessed with it but Steve doesn’t seem interested. Maybe it is because there are no Americans winning the big tennis titles since the days of McEnroe/Connors/Agassi that there doesn’t seem to be a great interest in tennis these days among Yanks. A recent poll asked the public how they rated the relative importance of the .4 Grand Slams and here was the result in ranking order:
            1/Wimebledon
            2/French Open
            3/Australian Open
            4/US Open
Wimbledon got the lion’s share of the vote with a whopping 76% and the US Open just attracted a miserly 3%

2 I agree that until your site’s dynamic it would be an awful task to change your figures every time ticket prices rise and unless there is a massive hike in them it will probably be another couple of years before you need to review matters because the year-on year alterations are so insignificant that it’s only someone like me who is using your figures all the time for his/her own private exercise that would even notice the slight increases Anyway enjoy your weekend break in Atlanta as you’ve earned it. IT’S AMAZING TO THINK THAT THE WARNERS LEDGERS TRIP IS AROUND A YEAR OLD

  3. Slight correction. Pierce played Remington Steele on Remington Steele TV show. Not sure where you got the name Ben Pearson. I was a big fan of the TV show.

    I have seen 10 of Brosnan’s movies.

I have seen all 4 Bond movies. My favourite is Goldeneye.

My favourite non-Bond film is The Thomas Crowne Affair.

Other films I have seen include
    Evelyn
    Mars Attacks
    Mrs. Doubtfire
    Grey Owl
    Mr. Johnson

    1. Hey Flora. Thanks for stopping by. Ben Pearson is the name listed on his IMDb page. Some say his character’s real was never mentioned on the series. So I have no idea where IMDb got that name. You are right, he was known as Remington Steele in the show.

10 Brosnan movies watched is pretty good, especially since he did not really make movies until the mid 1980sl. That is almost a decade from your 1976 cut off mark for seeing movies.

I have seen 7 of the ones you have watched….Thomas Crown Affair is my favorite non Bond, Brosnan movie too. Thanks for the comment, visit and tally count.

  4. Wasn’t sure if this was a new page or not when I saw the comment last night. I’m pretty sure Karloff was the most recent name at the top of the page when I looked.

Anyway nice to see Pierce get some UMR love. He was very popular as 007 in his time and than suddenly after Die Another Day, which was his biggest Bond movie, the rug was pulled from under him and he was given the heave-ho by the Bond producers. I think he is still shocked at the memory of it.

I’ve seen 22 of 39 films listed here. Favorites include the four Bond movies, Mars Attacks, Lawnmower Man, Thomas Crown Affair, Percy Jackson, The World’s End and No Escape.

Good to see GoldenEye topping the UMR chart and surprised to see the Simon Pegg comedy The World’s End, which I enjoyed, topping the critics chart.

Not a huge fan of Mrs. Doubtfire but have to admit Robin Williams was excellent in it.

Seraphim Falls is worth a look, an unusual western co-starring Liam Neeson, who was top billed? Let me check – Pierce on the poster and Liam is first on IMDBs credit list. Two Irish actors playing cowboy. [cue Bob grinning]

Looking at the trivia – Brosnan was considered for Batman in 1989? Hmmm There was a long list of actors considered, Mel Gibson and Bill Murray too.

Another top job Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve…being back at work is creating a decent time crunch……I had this page ready to go for today…..and after I published it….I ought of habit shared it on Twitter…..before if sharing it here…..which is why a comment showed up out of the blue.

Pierce is the only Bond that did not leave the franchise on his own terms….but he did not get fired from the role….but seems history is remembering it that way…..they just did not pick up his contract. Sadly…his Bond swan song was Die Another Day….possibly my least favorite Bond movie.

22 is pretty good….but behind me…as I have seen 30. Glad to see you mention No Escape as one of your favorites….that is a pretty intense movie…with a wonderful Brosnan role. I could picture that being a retired Bond who still wants to be near the action. I am right there with you about Mrs. Doubtfire…huge hit…and Robin is wonderful…..but it is a pretty depressing movie in my mind. I actually just rewatched Seraphim Falls….love the first 90 minutes of that movie….but the mystic turn in the final 20 minutes does not match the rest of the movie.

I was also surprised World’s End finished first in the critic/audience column. Fun talking Pierce with you…thanks for stopping by.

  5. I was 10 years old when I saw my first James Bond movie in theaters. The movie was Goldeneye and the Bond was Bronsnan. For the next decade he was the only Bond I acknowledged. I was so mad when they did no renew his contract for his 5th Bond movie. So I am so glad to see your rate his four Bond movies in your Top 5. Thanks for giving my favourite Bond so attention.

    1. Hey Tyler…..thanks for sharing these Brosnan/Bond memories…..it makes me think about my Moore/Bond memories. I have always said….everybody has a different Bond…..and it looks like the run of Daniel Craig is about over…..I can’t imagine him coming back for a 6th Bond movie. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
