  1. 1 When I first saw Robert De Niro in Godfather 2 he was only 31 so it is amazing to think that this site has just marked his 74th birthday.

2 It was reported in the press over here that he gave an interview to a group of movie critics in a hotel in Southern Ireland and stormed out of the room when one of them suggested to him that he was not true “box office”

3 Certainly nobody can argue about his acting credentials because critics and fellow performers alike have praised his work. For example Scorsese obviously loves to work with him and Marlon Brando said of Robert that he “is so good that even he doesn’t realise how good he is.” [They hit it off in private life too and DeNiro and Depp spent some time as guests on that famous island of Marlon’s.]

4 Robert is currently ranked No 3 on IMDB’s “ultimate” list of the greatest actors of all time. He has been very prolific in his film output for many years with the result that the respected Forbes Rich List has said that his overall career earnings are in a very high bracket. My own favourite DeNiro films are True Confessions [1981] and Guilty by Suspicion [1991] and I have watched the latter many times. This Cogerson page does him proud and it was good the 74th gave a further excuse for revisiting it.

    1. BRUCE

1 Apologies because I see that I’ve inadvertently repeated stuff from my last post about DeNiro

2 However I’m sure that regulars on this site will be glad to have the opportunity of reading twice some of my work – unlike many of the mutterings of you and Steve !!!

  2. BRUCE:

1 In his earlier days DeNiro visited a hotel in Dublin Belfast and gave a press conference there. A journalist questioned whether De N was box office and he reportedly stormed out of the room in high temper.

2 There was no questioning his acting credentials though. When he came on the scene Bud opined that Robert was the greatest actor he had ever seen. “Even he doesn’t realise how good he is.” said MB.

3 Robert has since returned the compliment In Raging Bull he recited word for word the ‘contender’ scene from On the Waterfront.. In a recent movie he again wove into the plot a Bud tribute but the language used means that I can’t reveal it to you.

5 When they finally got together in The Score it is said that they clashed often with the director and ultimately in effect took over control of the film for themselves.

6 Later Edward Norton who claims to have done the movie simply because he wanted to see his name on a poster with the two acting giants said something like: “I just kept out of the fray and let the two heavyweights get on with it.”

    7. It has been reported that when it got very hot Bud appeared on the set of The Score naked.

9 De N made so many low earners that they pull down his average gross to around 58 mil I think in the Cogerson Ready Reckoner.

10 However a celebrities rich list published here in recent times suggests that the accumulative effect of the 90 films that he has appeared in to date has made him the wealthiest film/TV performer right now after William Shatner. Robert must have lived on the set.

  3. Robert DeNiro is my favorite actor. I have seen 81 of the films listed, plus a couple of additional ones not listed. Of the 9 you have listed that I have not seen, I have 5 of them on disc but haven’t watched them yet.

    1. Hey Lawrence….I am thinking the ones not listed are his straight to DVD movies in the last few years. If the movie does not have any box office…it does not make the table. I have seen 73 of his movies…so you top me again. Looking at the previous comments…I have gone from 46 DeNiro movies watched to 73…but then again he has been a very busy actor the last 5 years. Thanks for the comment.

    2. Great, Larry.

I cannot remember if I have given a total of Robert DeNiro.

I have a much lower total than you.

I think I have written my total before.

looking at rankings her and in regards to films I have not seen high on my to-see list: I had to look several times for Taxi Driver v- why so low, Bruce.

  4. Just got around to reading this DeNiro movie page. I absolutely love DeNiro. The old movies are great, but I also liked Limitless, which would have been a horrible movie if it weren’t for him and Bradley Cooper. Sometimes the actors make the movies. Great Job!!!

    1. Thanks for checking out my DeNiro Movie Page. I agree that Limitless was much better than I thought it would be…I hear they are thinking about making a sequel ..which could be interesting….especially if DeNiro’s character starts taking the pills too. I greatly appreciate the comments.
