  1. Steve’s latest video is now on this page….Mr. George Peppard.

    My comment on his video.

“I love it when a plan comes together”. #24 Damnation Alley….saw this one in theaters…thought it was awesome back then. #14 Battle Beyond The Stars…fun movie…though horrible Star Wars rip off #4 Pork Chop Hill…seen it barely remember Peppard’s role. #3 The Blue Max….I thought it was ok. #2 How The West Was Won…huge hit….his part is actually one of the bigger roles in the movie #1 Breakfast at Tiffany’s…..like this one…but do not love it. So that is 6 watched…but the entire Top 4. Voted up and shared.

    1. Thanks Bruce, appreciate the comment and share. Just 6? Somehow I expected more from you on George Peppard, I can picture you and your dad watching the A-Team on TV back in the 80s. I wasn’t addicted to it but I did like the occasional episode. My dad was a fan. But he also enjoyed Dallas and Dynasty. There’s no accounting for taste. I was more into Miami Vice back then.

Now I’ll just simply copy and paste my reply after your comment on the youtube channel. How’s that for laziness? 😉

      1. Hey Steve. I actually had not even heard of many of Peppard’s movies. Particularly in he 20 through 11 section. The one I want to watch the most is The Carpetbaggers.

By the time the A-Team was on television….my dad had given up on watching televisions. His shows were in the 1960s and early 1970s. I loved Miami Vice too…even though Bruce Willis played a pretty bad guy on a couple of episodes.

Copy and paste away….it is actually what I did with my comment on your page. Heading to theater to see Three Billboards in Ebbing, Missouri. School is out for MLK day….so we have to go to the movies. Saw The Post a couple of days ago….my 20th Tom Hanks movie seen in theaters.

        1. Hey Bruce, I saw Three Billboards in Missouri, ebbing a few days ago. I liked it. I think Frances MacDormand has another Oscar coming. Sam Rockwell might bag one too.

          1. Hey Steve….we saw Three Billboards….WoC did not like it all. I am still trying to figure out my “final” assessment of the movie. Loved the performances….though I felt Woody out “Rockwelled” Sam. I do agree that Frances McDormand has another Oscar coming. Overall I liked the movie….just not sure how much.

          2. Hey Steve…it took a few days…but in the end… I liked Three Billboards. Not sure if it is a Best Picture Oscar winner….but I liked it more than Moonlight.

          3. Hi Bruce, yeah I liked Three Billboards, reminded me of the Coen Bros movies. Martin McDonagh has only directed three films, his other two were Seven Psychopaths and In Bruges (another favorite of mine). It should get a bunch of Oscar nominations this tuesday. Frances McDormand has a good chance of bagging another Oscar.

          4. Hey Steve….Three Billboards is a good movie…but it took me a few days to figure out if I liked the movie or not (just posted my review on the January 19th post)…..in the end….I liked it to. Oscar nominations in only a few days….going to work late that day. Will Franco still get a nomination? Which old thespian will get the surprise nomination? It happens every year…..Sam Elliott for The Hero……getting excited….my favorite time of the movie year.

  2. HI Steve,
I enjoyed the William Shatner and Robert Vaughn videos, though one has to admit that their film careers has not exactly been stellar.

Shatner, of course, could never get away from being Captain Kirk, just as Leonard Nimoy was forever associated with Spock (although arguably, as compared to Shatner, Nimoy did have a few other interesting roles after Star Trek, including in TV’s Mission Impossible). I think Shatner’s few notable film roles aside from all the Trek movies were actually before he became Captain Kirk, in The Brothers Karamazov, Judgment at Nuremberg (a small role but a big film) and as the lead in the critically acclaimed B-movie, The Intruder, (which I have not yet seen but would like to), all of which are justifiably among the highest rated films in your videos. As far as the Star Trek movies, there were some good ones, particularly The Wrath of Khan, but personally I still much prefer the original TV series, and particularly the first season where so many creative sci-fi concepts and ideas were introduced or popularized. Whatever Shatner did before or after, ultimately he will forever be remembered for his Captain Kirk in that ground-breaking series…and that’s probably more than enough.

Robert Vaughn is another actor I like watching, even though he is not Canadian 😉 It’s a shame that he did not appear in more quality films after he finished starring The Man From Uncle, as the many mediocre ratings in your video suggests. This may have been partly because the era of the slick, dark and handsome leading man had passed by then, and Vaughn, a talented actor, essentially returned to doing B-films, where he started out in the late 1950s. The best roles I remember him from on the big screen were in The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt and The Bridge as Remagan (where he was interestingly cast as a German officer). I also recall him falling to his death in The Towering Inferno. My favorite posters in your video were the really cool and colorful ones from The Man from Uncle films. In fact, I never realized this number of Uncle films had been released – do you know if these were TV movies later put out for the big screen or originally for the cinema.

    Anyway, solid work as usual!

    1. Hi Phil, thanks for checking out my latest videos, much appreciated!

Yeah Shatner didn’t really get to flex his actorly muscles post and between ‘Treks’, but at least he left his mark as arguably the greatest and most famous captain of any sci-fi series (sorry Patrick Stewart fans). A true sci-fi icon.

I’m with you on the original Trek tv series being the best of the Treks, in fact it’s still my favorite of all TV series I’ve watched since my youth. (I’m also a huge fan of The Avengers too – the 1960s UK series).

The Man from UNCLE movies were cobbled together from 2-part episodes of the original 1960s series, with added sex and violence for cinema release. They were retitled too, all the episode titles of the TV series end with the word ‘Affair’ e.g. ‘The Five Daughters Affair’ – with special guest star Joan Crawford, that was a 2-part episode which was released theatrically as The Karate Killers.

I wouldn’t mind watching a couple of those movies now that I’ve finished the video and looked at the posters. Surprised they didn’t do something similar with rival spy show Mission Impossible.

      1. Thanks for the clarification on the UNCLE movies – sounds like a smart way for the studios to cash in from TV series. Forgot to mention that the first thing I actually saw Vaughn in was in the British series, The Protectors, which played in the early 1970s. And yeah, The Avengers series was great and lot’s of fun as well.

  3. Thanks for the video share Bruce, it is appreciated. It would probably have been a Top 25 if I hadn’t added all 8 Man from UNCLE movies, which were actually specially edited 2-part episodes from the TV series with added sex and violence for cinema release. I think the posters for those films were the highlight of my Robert Vaughn video.

    1. I was wondering how so many Man From UNCLE movies were on the countdown. I thought one or many two had been released in theaters but 8? They were indeed good posters.

  4. Just added Steve’s Robert Vaughn video to the page…plus my comments on his video.

Not off to a good start…all the way to #25 Black Moon Rising for my first seen movie….and I do not even remember his role. #23 Superman 3….weak Superman movie #21 Joe’s Apartment…horrible movie. #12 Delta Force…was in it? #11 Battle Beyond The Stars….Star Wars meets Magnificent Seven #9 BaseKet Ball…stupid…but has a few funny moments. #8 S.O.B. good behind the scenes look at Blake Edwards life #7 Bridge at Remagen…decent war movie #6 Young Philadelphians….he is good in role…has a hogey ending. #3 Towering Inferno…blockbuster disaster movie #2 Bullitt….classic. #1 Magnificent Seven…pretty sure he was the last of the Magnificent Seven to pass away. 12 seen. Nice video. Voted up and shared at UMR.
