  1. Favorite films from 1955: Night of the Hunter, Mister Roberts, Rebel Without a Cause, Picnic, Marty, Bad Day at Black Rock, Blackboard Jungle, Diabolique and the original Ladykillers (which seems to have done did relatively well in the US for a British film!)

  2. Hi

There’s a lot of movies on the list I haven’t seen. Of the ones I have, I particularly enjoyed Rebel Without A Cause and Bad Day At Black Rock. Arguably one of Tracey’s best films. I’ve seen Mr. Roberts several times and I thought it was an okay movie but I’m surprised it did so well at the box office.
I particularly like Love me or Leave me. Cagney and Day had great chemistry. One film I didn’t enjoy is Love Is a Many Splendid Thing. I got pretty bored half way through.
Oklahoma was okay but I noticed there were no real big MGM musicals in ’55. But my favourite 55 movie without doubt is Lady and the Tramp. In fact it’s probably my favourite Disney movie.

    1. Hey Chris. Thanks for checking out our 1955 page. Of your favorites I liked Lady and the Tramp and Bad Day at Black Rock. I have always felt Rebel Without A Cause was somewhat overrated. Watching a mid 20s actor playing a teenager never rang true to me. Granted I know I alone in that thinking. As for Mister Roberts….that is one of my favorites. So many great performances in that one. Good feedback.
