In 2025, I watched 601 movies. Though, I am sure over the year, I forgot a few movies to add to my Letterboxd.com account. About a sixth of those movies were ones released in 2025. The death of RedBox seems to have hurt the amount of new movies I watched in 2025. The following are the 10 2025 movies I enjoyed the least. These movies are listed in alphabetical order.
Another Simple Favor (2025)
Why I watched this one? I liked the original movie, though I do admit, I did not remember many of the details of the first one.
What is this one about? Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively reunite on the island of Capri, Italy for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman, which is interrupted by murder and betrayal.
My thoughts on this one? I did not like this one at all. Has a great chance to make my Top 10 Worst movies of 2025 list. It is long. It is boring. The plot twists are dumb. It wastes some serious talent. The mystery is lame. The conclusion is lazy and uninteresting. It was just a waste of time.
Cleaner (2025)
What is this one about? Die Hard rip off…only John McClane is replaced with a window cleaner former ex-soldier.
My thoughts? This has a great chance to make my Top 10 worst movies of the year. The first 10 minutes were ok. The entire Die Hard plotline was just dumb. If you told me the movie makers were trying to make a comedy I would believe you. The action is blah. The attempts to keep Daisy Ridley in the middle of the story are ridiculous. Final thought: Bad movie, shocked so many people think this is at least an average movie.
The Electric State (2025)
Big names are in front of the camera and behind the camera in this movie. Movie had a huge budget. So, you would think this was going to be a good to great movie. Well, if you thought that, you are very wrong. This is a bloated mess of a movie. Movie is dumb on all fronts. Chris Pratt is the best part of the movie, and he even seems bored with the role. Final thought: A huge misfire. One of the worst movies of 2025.
Flight Risk (2025)
Wow…this was the 49th Mark Wahlberg movie that I have watched. So, when I say this is not one of his better movies, I think I have enough Walhberg movie hours to be an expert in the matter. Though his is top billed, he is actually a supporting character in the movie. The entire movie is pretty much dumb from beginning to the end. Movie will have you shaking your head in disbelief numerous times. Final thought: Gotta say with Mel Gibson directing and Wahlberg acting….this was a big disappointment.
G20 (2025)
The newest movie from Amazon Prime. Viola Davis plays the US President who travels to Africa for the latest G20 summit. This is 2 parts Die Hard, 1 part White House Down and 1 part Olympus Has Fallen. Davis is just fine in the lead role. She is sadly saddled with one of the dumbest stories lines I have seen in a long while. Almost nothing in the movie makes any logical sense. The bad guys can’t fight, can’t shoot straight and seem to multiple quickly. Watching Davis take on an entire army of bad guys grows tiresome. Final thought: A strong contender to make my Top 10 Worst movies of 2025.
Happy Gilmore 2 (2025)
The sequel to the beloved Happy Gilmore. I really, really wanted to love this movie. The movie tries very hard to please everybody with the storyline. Some might like all the plot twists and easter eggs to the original. I sadly, found the story disappointing from the beginning to the end. Yes, seeing all the Sandler players appear in bit parts was sort of entertaining, but the story was just dumb. Even Ben Stiller, who I always find funny comes up empty in the movie.
The only times I laughed were when the joke had nothing to do with the movie. For example…jokes about a golfer getting arrested which was based on a real-life incident. The story line regarding Shooter McGavin was just sad as they seemed to follow the Fast and Furious approach of making the villain in the previous movie an ally in the sequel. Final thought: I did not like this movie. I was very disappointed.
Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025)
The 7th Jurassic Park movie might be the worst one yet. This is a boring movie with good dinosaur special effects. The story hits the trifecta: It’s boring, it’s dumb and it’s predictable. There is an entire story with one of the dumbest families in the world that is completely unnecessary. Final thought: Has a great chance to make my list of worst movies of 2025.
Kinda Pregnant (2025)
What’s this one about? When Lainy’s plan to settle down and start a family falls apart, she puts on a fake baby bump, tells a lie, and accidentally falls for her dream guy.
My thoughts on this one? I am not a huge Amy Schumer fan. This movie did not change that opinion. The humor did not work for me, or my wife. The story is sort of dumb. Will Forte as the love interest is the best part. Even though I saw it early in the year, it stuck with me all year as one of the worst movies of 2025.
Snow White (2025)
What is this one about? The live action (sort of) remake of the Disney classic.
My thoughts? On the good side: (1) It looks good. (2) Rachel Zegler can sing. (3) It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Sadly, the rest of the movie is just bad. The story, the action, the story changes, the finale, the CGI, the everything. A costly misfire.
War of the Worlds (2025)
What is this one about? A gargantuan invasion is coming with this fresh take on the legendary novel of the same name, that is filled with present-day themes of technology, surveillance, and privacy.
Why I watched this one? I had heard and read that this was a really bad movie. On our UMR 2025 movie ranking page it sits dead last. 250th of 250 movies ranked this year. So, I had to see if it was really that bad.

My thoughts? I thought the first third was at least decent. Granted Ice Cube comes across as creepy more than as a concerned dad. Once the aliens arrive the movie goes off the tracks. I thought the special effects, which have been criticized, were ok. Granted, they are shown through a computer screen. As for the acting, heck, I can’t complain, they did a better job than I ever could.
So that gets us to the last hour of this movie. The last hour is Ed Wood bad. In one scene, Ice Cube is wrestling with an alien that really reminded of Martin Landau wrestling with a fake octopus in Ed Wood. The plot twists are beyond stupid. Amazingly, they get dumber and dumber as the movie limps to the end. The action is super weak. Amazon executives probably love this movie, because an Amazon delivery saves the day. Final thought: Terrible movie.
