Bill Pullman (1953-) is an American actor.  Pullman made his film debut in the 1986 film Ruthless People.  Over the last 30 years he has been one of the busiest actors working. Bill Pullman’s IMDb page shows 95 acting credits since 1986.  The following table ranks 51 Bill Pullman movies.  Cameos, television appearances, and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings.

Bill Pullman Movies Ranked By Combination of Box Office, Reviews and Awards (UMR Score) – *Our Big Table With All The Stats is the second table.

Bill Pullman Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • If movie title is a blue, then there is a Bill Pullman movie trailer attached to the page link
  • Sort Bill Pullman movies by co-stars or in some cases directors
  • Sort Bill Pullman movies by adjusted box office grosses using current movie ticket cost
  • Sort Bill Pullman movies by box office rank in the year of release
  • Sort Bill Pullman movies by how the movie was received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Bill Pullman movie received.
  • Sort Bill Pullman movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.
  • Use the search and sort buttons to make this table very interactive.

  1. HI BRUCE
Nice page on a nice guy in my view – Bill Pullman.

A great coincidence is Steve’s mention of Bill Paxton because I too have often confused the two Bills. [Paxton is my brother’s favourite actor]

Nothing new in such confusion as when I first came across this site I was apt to confuse Bruce Cogerson with Bruce Willis – can anybody blame me?!

Although he has had fine lead/co-lead roles Pullman has never emerged as a front line star who can open a film. However for me he has usually been pleasant to have in a movie as he has a persona that can help create a feel-good factor – While You were Sleeping, a League of their own , Sleepless in Seattle for example

He could of course also “hang tough” as for example The US President in Independence Day and as the monster fighter in Lake Placid.

My favourite Pullman movie is While you were Sleeping and your chart above shows it earned a box office bonanza of an adjusted $167 million in the US alone.

Just as well because although Sandra Bullock got top billing in that one and her role could probably be described as the main lead one if the film had failed at the box office that unscrupulous agent of hers would probably have outed poor Pullman as the fall guy the way he did with Hanks when the latter and Sandra co-starred in the flop Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.

Anyway I again join Steve in awarding this new Pullman page a “Vote Up!“

    1. Hey Bob Roy…..thanks for the breakdown on our Bill Pullman page. I think lots and lots of people have confused Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman.. Their one movie together is completely forgettable. Sadly now my brain says….”the one who is still making movies” and the one “that passed away”. RIP Mr. Paxton. He was pretty good in While You Were Sleeping….even then his role was supporting…as Bullock did the heavy lifting in that movie. I have not seen Lake Placid….but I will one day. Good stuff as always.

*I will be happy to be confused with Bruce Willis….I am a much nicer person…..lol.

    1. Hey Carl U…..I love the cameos in that movie….it is still holding up well….watched it with my kids only a few weeks ago. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I saw Bill Pullman’s name here yesterday and thought you were updating an old page. I thought you did Pullman ages ago, maybe I was thinking of Bill Paxton?

I’ve seen 22 of the 51 films on the chart, favorites include – ID4, Spaceballs, Ruthless People, The Serpent and the Rainbow and Titan AE.

The Last Seduction was his best reviewed film? I wasn’t expecting that, I’ll have to watch it again it’s been ages.

Independence Day is easily his biggest hit, back in 1996 only a handful of films were more successful than that sci-fi juggernaut. 22 years later it’s probably not even in the all time top 30.

    Good work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve
      1. Yep…I wrote this a few days ago…..but had not planned on sharing it here until today…sometime I write the pages and hide them in plain sight on the site index page.
      2. This time…I shared it…but it was shared and actually took off on Thursday…..over 1000 views in a few hours…thank you Dan Patrick Show.
      3. I did a Bill Paxton page after he passed….it was our tribute page to him.
      4. I have seen 35 of his movies…..Spaceballs and Ruthless People are both very funny movie….and Pullman is excellent in both of them.
      5. I was not a huge fan of Serpent and the Rainbow……but I did enjoy Titan AE….which was a huge flop.
      6. As for Independence Day….it is still ranked 44th when looking at the all-time ticket selling movies of all-time. https://www.ultimatemovierankings.com/top-movie-ticket-sellers-of-all-time/
      7. Last Seduction got great reviews….I was a little underwhelmed with it…especially the “great twist”…which I felt was somewhat weak.
      Good stuff as always.
