Chevy Chase (1943-) is an American actor, comedian and writer.  Chase first gained famed in 1975 as a member of the very first Saturday Night Live cast. His IMDb page shows 77 credits from 1968-2016. This page ranks 34 Chevy Chase movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, cameos, shorts, video games and movies not released in North America were not included in the rankings.

Drivel part of the page:  I might have been the biggest Chevy Chase fan out there in the late 1970s and 1980s.  From 1978 to the early 1990s, Chase was one of the most popular comedians working in movies.  Not only did I watch all of his movies….but I went to the theater to see them.  Of his first 16 movies I saw 13 of them in theaters.   So the other day I saw an article on Chase….I thought why do I not have a page on him yet…..well now I do!

  1. I used to love his movies. My favorites would be Christmas Vacation and Fletch. I think I saw Caddyshack a 1000 times growing up as my older brothers played that all the time. Good memories.

    1. Glad my page brought back some good memories. I love Christmas Vacation as well. He had a great run back in the day…thanks for the comment.

    1. Oh, Lawrence, you did not beat Bruce. But – it looks like USA took all three medals? Steve Lensman will be annoyed about this. Cue Steve Growling. Flora says: stop it Steve.

    2. Oops, it should be 25…I had forgotten that I had seen Follow That Bird. I also have 3 waiting to be watched, but I can’t count those yet. (Snow Day, Vacation [new one], and HTTM2)

      1. Back when Follow That Bird hit theaters I was such a Chase fan I almost went to the theater to see it. Thirty years laterI still have not seen the movie.

    3. Thanks for the tally count Larry. So with 5 people reporting …..the good old USA gets the top two spots….me with 27, you at 25…Steve with 21, Flora at 11 and Laurent with 2. So USA, USA, GB, Canada, and France. Thanks for checking out our long overdue Chevy Chase page.

      1. Okay, but the point is that USA wins Gold and Silver which has not happened lately and that I did not finish on the podium.

But yes – Great Britain gets bronze.

        🙂

      2. I guess it is now The New England that gets the bronze. But if we look at it in terms of when these totals were made, then it is still GB.

  2. Hello Bruce,

I’ve seen only 2 movies of Chavy Chase. But you should know that it is almost unknown in France, where only 18 of his films were released. None of them was a semblance of success at the box office…

    1. Thanks for the information on Chevy Chase in France. I guess I am not surprised that Chase’s movies were not big over there. Seems American comedies…with the exception of Jerry Lewis…are not too popular in your countries. Only 2 Chase movies watched will not get “La Marseillaise” song…lol. Tally count….me 28, Steve 21, Flora 11 and you at 2 …..proud day as the National Anthem starts…lol. As always thanks for the you the visit…about to post a Robert Montgomery page…I am betting your tally will be higher than 2.

      1. Mel Brooks was popular and Woody Allen is always appreciated by french. Charlie Chaplin was VERY VERY VERY popular in France. One of the biggest star in my countrie. But it’s true that american comedies are not very atractives at the box office. The paradox is that your sitcoms are very successful in the French TV.

        1. Hey Laurent… seems like Brooks and Lewis’ brand of comedy are different from Chaplin and Allen’s brand…yet all are popular in France. Even stranger that the sitcoms are successful while the movies struggle. Once again an interesting look from France.
