UMR’s Review of Extraction

Watched this one with my wife on our quarantine Friday night date in the living room. This one, which was originally attached to 1980s action legends Bruce Willis and Arnold.  This one stars Chris Hemsworth as super-soldier with a deathwish. Despite the story offering up little new stuff….there are parts of the movie I enjoyed. The action scenes are well done….though I admit it does get a little tiresome watching the bad guys wearing black clothes and black helmets dying, dying, and dying even more. I bet some of the movie’s stuntman died many times in the same scene.

The highlight of the movie is one long, no cut, an action scene that goes from a car chase to hand to hand fighting in an apartment complex and back to a truck chase scene. I am still researching if this was indeed one long cut or if they used some digital tricks to hide the cuts. Either way, it was impressive. I liked Hemsworth in the movie, and he even got to use his real accent. I liked the villains in the movie. My wife and I were impressed with the child actor who Chris is saving. In the end, this one is pretty entertaining…and worth checking out on Netflix.
