UMR Review of Free Guy

Why I saw this one? I loved the trailers for this movie, and I really like Ryan Reynolds.

What is this one about? A bank teller (Ryan Reynolds) discovers that he’s actually an NPC inside a brutal, open world video game.

My thoughts on this one? This is a very entertaining and original movie! This movie is well cast with lesser known actors in the supporting roles. The movie is filled with cameos. Looking at the credits, I did not see all the ones in the movie. I will be looking for those cameos when this movie becomes part of my movie collection.

I sort of forced both of my youngest children to go to the theater with me. My 15 year old really liked it as well. My 12 year old says it was ok, but I could tell she liked it as well. So….that is three different age groups that liked the movie.

Ryan Reynolds is really good in the movie. This part is perfect for him. I was not as impressed with Taika Waititi as the bad guy in this one. He happily is not in the movie very much.

Final thought: Worth checking out

Original??? The trailer was pathetic and shows the lack of creativity that lives in Hollywood! Think Matrix! Think Roger Rabbit! The list goes on and on… save your money and watch the stolen Chinese dvd

Hey Dan…I am glad that you enjoyed it as well. I saw Free Guy last weekend and Reynolds’ The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard…..I thought that sequel was one of the worst I have ever seen. What a waste of talent and time! Good stuff as always.

Hey Mike….I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. This was one of the few movies this summer that was not either a sequel or a remake. Apparently Disney likes it enough that a Free Guy 2 is going to be made. Hopefully you will enjoy that one more. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Free Guy….it is greatly appreciated.
