Drivel Part:  This page comes from a request of a fan of the Paul Henreid, Beyond Victor Laszlo. A Daughter’s Memoir facebook page.  This is the 6th actor (Bogart, Bergman, Greenstreet, Lorre and Rains) to appear in Casablanca to receive an UMR movie page.  Of the almost 30,000 movies in our database….Casablanca sits in 7th place!

Casablanca is one of my favorite movies. Have to confess Paul Henreid’s character wasn’t one of my favorites and I was practically begging Ilsa to leave with Rick the first time I saw the film. 🙂

I’ve seen 5 out of the 36 films listed – Casablanca, Operation Crossbow, The Spanish Main, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and Exorcist II The Heretic.

I still haven’t seen Now Voyager or Goodbye Mr. Chips.

An interesting page on an actor I knew little about. Vote Up!

Hey Steve….thanks for checking out the 6th Casablanca actor to receive a UMR page. I am curious how popular this page will be….so far….the traffic has been ok…..I wonder how it will be in 12 months. I was right there with you about Rick getting the girl versus Victor getting the girl….but I imagine if Rick got the girl…we would probably not be having this discussion almost 70 years later.

So your tally is 5…..mmmm….it is going to be close….let me count…I am at 5 too….but that includes Exorcist 2…which I barely remember…and certainly do not remember his part….so I think 4.5 would be a better tally. Now too impressive for us. Where is Flora when we need her?….lol. Watching Now,Voyager is suggested….if only for historical movie reference.

As always…greatly appreciate you sharing your movie knowledge.

Hey Chris….I agree….Casablanca is the better movie….but his role in Now, Voyager is much bigger. Still what a great 1942 for Henreid….having a one two punch of Casablanca and Now, Voyager. Thanks for the comment and the visit.

His pirate movies are underappreciated. Granted some of the latter ones suffered due to budgets but his performances are always remained fun. He is at ease on a pirate boat as Erol Flynn was.
