HI BRUCE: Thanks for the feedback. You are not interested in producer credits you say. That’s tantamount to saying you have no interest in Alan Ladd Junior – shame on you! Seriously though, I too am not usually turned on by production trivia, but I like to demonstrate how someone like Peter Jackson who has contributed massively to the cinema is currently still continuing to be involved.
Indeed regarding directors, I normally get excited by only the activities of (1) the Giants like Huston, John Ford, Hitch, Scorsese and/or (2) those, such as George Marshall and most of the other ones whom Steve has been profiling lately whose past work has been a big part of my youth.
Indeed when I see the likes of The Rock and Jason Statham fumbling about on the screen these days I am fast reaching the point where only method acting will excite me. A rare rose in the desert is Sir Maurice acting his age and still turning in fine performances like his one in 2015’s Youth. No wonder that IMDB puts him up with the likes of Olivier, Mumbles, DeNiro etc and ranks the Mighty Micklewhite the 14th greatest actor of all time. Of course I will always have a keen interest in stats, poster and stills for their own sake.
Unlike the money accrued by many of the “famous for being famous” crowd today, Jackson’s half billion net fortune was certainly well-earned by the huge success of his blockbusters even though most of them are not to my personal taste. The only two movie people whom I personally have seen reported as earning over a billion are Lucas and Spielberg: check out Celebrity Net Worth site – $6.4 and $3.7 billion respectively, with Spielberg for example still earning a reported annual salary of $150 million. Wow!!; that kind of loot should satisfy even Gimme More – well for one movie anyway!
Hey Bob….I think my thinking on producers revolves around the great Spielberg. He was one of the first behind the scenes people to get an UMR page. Originally I planned on including all of his movies….but I quickly realized filling up the table that he only produced took away from the Spielberg directed movies. So right or wrong…I have not included those credits. Granted a few of them have gotten into the table…Michael Douglas’ Oscar for One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest made our Douglas page.
The youth of today, thinks the fumbling of The Rock and Jason Statham is the peak of acting today….them along with Kevin Hart….all three are together in Hobbs and Shaw….surprised the world did not erupt when that happened…lol.

Like Bob, I am not interested in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit franchises. However, a friend of mine did insist I see the first The Hobbit movie.

I thought The Hobbit was okay. It was visually stunning, but it did not make me interested to see the other Hobbit films.

I’ve seen all of Peter Jackson’s films except… Meet the Feebles, which never interested me. Favorites are – The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hobbit trilogy, King Kong and The Frighteners.
I liked his recent colorised WWI documentary, but didn’t enjoy it. Not sure if we’re supposed to enjoy watching war documentaries. Too depressing. I’d rather watch big war movies packed with famous actors and based ‘loosely’ on real events. 🙂
After the mega success of his Middle-Earth movie adaptations Jackson is in the same awkward position as James Cameron, thinking – “how do I top this?” or “do I go back to making small movies again?”.
Cameron hasn’t directed a film in 10 years because he’s only interested in topping his previous film, so he’s trapped making Avatar sequels for the next 10 years, assuming the first sequel is a huge success.

Hey Steve….thanks for the thoughts on our Peter Jackson page. I have seen 11 of the 14 movies listed…so I am trailing you by just a little bit. I would say The Frighteners, Two Towers and the 2nd Hobbit movies are my favorites. I am right there with you on They Shall Not Grow Old….liked it…thought it was visually stunning..but in the end….I was like…this is a one and done movie for me. I also agree that Jackson seems to be following the Cameron timeline of film making. Glad you liked the trivia and the stats…thanks for the voted up.
Peter Jackson’ films generally don’t appeal to me; I have no interest in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit franchises for example. However I did like his 2005 King Kong and anyway he doesn’t need me: his reported net worth on the Celebrity Net Worth site is a staggering $500 million, which places him among the very richest people of all time who have had an artistically-creative association with any function in moviemaking; and IMDB credits him with an awesome haul of 137 movie awards and 136 noms.
Peter has 17 acting credits to his name, mostly in small roles [as in King Kong] or in uncredited ones [such as a man at a pharmacy in The Lovely Bones] and in a number of short films. An expanded list of his cameos is at Para 4 of Best IMDB trivia above.

I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings movies, seeing them all in theaters….none of the Hobbit movies got me to the theater…I actually both of the middle movies are the best in those franchises. Attaching himself to Tolkien was a wise business decision…and why he has almost half a billion in net worth. His cameos remind me of Hitchcock’s cameos. None of his producing credits interest me much…I did not really enjoy the first Tin Tin movie. As always good stuff.
