Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

  1. geoffrey rush please. be encouraged your annual pages are fantastic and with their completion, will cease the need for box office research.

      1. Hey bob cox….I will be sure to get a Geoffrey Rush page completed in the near future….especially with him being a Triple Crown winner. Glad you like the yearly pages…we are now up to 61 straight years 1928-1988, 1994 and 2011-2019….for a total of 71 yearly pages completed…..21 more years to go! Thanks for the kind words and the feedback.

  2. Hi. I use your site fairly religiously when I write my reviews for my blog, but I am a bit vexed on occasion. Looking at “The Yakuza” from 1974, which you list as coming in #43rd place with a gross over $10,000,000—-how does this jibe with its writer Paul Schrader saying it only made about a million? Other sources all indicate it was a flop. How did you arrive at your stats, I am very curious. Cheers, Mark

    1. Hey Mark. We have The Yakuza with box office rentals of 3.6 million….which would have meant 10.0 million in box office gross. Normally, Variety is our main source of this information. A quick look at Variety in 1974 and 1975 does not show The Yakuza at all. In my database, it gives the reference as “book source”….but sadly….and the wife would yell at me…..I did not list the book I got the number. Of the many books that I have read…..writers, producers, stars are really interested in the profit line….I suspect….though….do not know for sure….that either Schrader probably got a bonus once it “earned a million dollars”……or that it earned less than $1 million in rentals….which would lower the gross…to around 3.5 million. Sadly…..sometimes it is real hard to pinpoint an accurate box office number. Sounds like I need to do some deeper research on this Mitchum underrated movie. Hope that explains it some. Thanks for the kind words.

  3. My top movies The Godfather it shows how power
    corrupts a good man
The Wizard of Oz it shows us that Family Matters
and the grass is not greener on the other side of the
    rainbow
The Ten Commandments need I say more Charlton
Heston greatest actor of them all and The Greatest
    Story Ever Told.
The Searchers this movie shows that to find someone
who is lost the journey might be long but you will find
    them in the end.
The Star Trek movies but one out of all of them The
Wrath of Khan. It brings back characters from my
childhood the Great Captain Kirk and mr. Spock and
the crew of the Enterprise. I am a Sci-Fi fan and this is
one stands the test of time it shows that to everything
you have to go great friendship will always endure.
My favorite actors. Number one John Wayne. 2
Samuel L Jackson. 3 Daniel Craig. 4 Denzel Washington.
5 Errol Flynn. 6 Charlton Heston. My actors are not
in order and that’s why I had to go with six.

    1. Hey George…..thanks for this information. I will make sure to include on the next UMR Hall of Fame update….as I am trying to collect this information on all 20 UMR Hall Of Famers. I like your top 6…especially John Wayne. Heston coming in 6th place….will make Bob and Steve happy. As for your Top 5…..all are highly ranked UMR movies. With Star Trek: Wrath of Khan being lowest rated movie….which makes your list truly impressive when that is the “worst” movie. Thanks again.

    1. Hey Nick…I will add Sabu into the request list. A quick look at his IMDb page…he only has 23 credits…and I know we have 8 to 10 of his movies already in the database. Thanks for the suggestion.
