UMR Review Of Secret of the Incas (1954)

This is one of the movies that influenced George Lucas when he created his Indiana Jones character. In this one, Charlton Heston plays an anti-hero who is after a treasure. Heston’s outfit is almost the same one Harrison Ford wore in Raiders of the Lost Ark. At the end of the movie, Heston using light to discover the location of a treasure….that was definitely a trick Lucas/Ford used in Raiders. As for this movie, it is ok. The first hour is very slowly paced. The second half of the movie has more thrills, yet Heston’s decisions to get the treasure are not very smart or effective. In the end, I was glad I watched this one, but it is not one I will re-watch anytime soon.
