Sondra Locke Movies

12/13/2018 – Got home from work, checked the internet and saw the sad news of Sondra Locke’s passing.   So, quickly put together this tribute page to her and her movie career.   Rest in peace Sondra Locke. Sondra Locke (1944-2018) was an Oscar®-nominated American actress and director.   Growing up, I thought Sondra Locke was one of the most popular actresses working.   Being a huge Clint Eastwood fan, certainly elevated her stature in my eyes.   Eastwood and Locke would make 6 movies together between 1976 and 1983.  Her IMDb page shows 30 acting credits from 1968-2017. This page will rank 16 Sondra Locke movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information.

Sad news. RIP Sondra Locke. I wonder if there’s been a reaction from Clint online?

I think I first noticed Sondra in The Outlaw Josey Wales and then The Gauntlet. The only earlier film I’d seen was Willard but can’t remember her in that.

Looking at the chart I’ve seen 7 of the 16 films listed, I’ve mentioned three the other four are – Every Which Way But Loose, Any Which Way You Can, Bronco Billy and Sudden Impact.

She was particularly good as the foul-mouthed prostitute in The Gauntlet.

Highest rated is Josey Wales, one of Clint’s best westerns.

A nice tribute page Bruce. Vote Up!

Hey Steve. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Sondra Locke. We are tied at 7 movies seen. I have seen her entire Clint catalogue. Actually with the exception of Bronco Billy….I have probable seen the other 5 movies at 5 times each. Sudden Impact was a VHS tape that was very very popular back in the day. The other one I have seen is The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. She is fine in that one….but it is an Alan Arkin showcase. Not sure I noticed her in The Outlaw Josey Wales the first time I watched that awesome western…but I do now when I rewatch it. In some ways, her girl in Wales and Lucas Haas’ boy in The Witness are the same character. Saw The Gauntlet with my dad in theaters…..the final scene where they machine gun his vehicle is firmly etched into my brain forever. Good feedback. RIP Sondra Locke.

Loved her in “Sudden Impact” and several other flicks back in the day.

If you haven’t already, check her out in “The Prophet’s Game” (2000) with Dennis Hopper, her second to last movie.

Hope to see you on the other side, Sondra!

Hey Wuchak……it is sad to realize that Sudden Impact was her last major acting role…especially considering how big a hit it was….I saw that one in theaters….and would have never guessed that was going to happen. I will have to check out The Prophet’s Game. RIP Sondra Locke.

Hey TandyMan the first topless actress I saw was Sondra Locke in The Gauntlet….my dad took me to that movie….and after it ended he said…”I am not taking him to R rated movies ever again”……and he never did again. I think that was when I first noticed her…and had a bit of crush on her myself.

Not the prettiest woman, not the best actress, and seems like she had a troubled relationship with Clint (no Saint himself), but I thought she was unique. A pinched little nose, she looked very serious when she had cause. Don’t know what she looked like at 74, but she was prettier than anyone I went to High School with, at least in her prime.

Hey snepts….good breakdown on Sondra Locke…I agree with almost every point you make. For seven years…she and Clint made a good screen team. I think before she got sick she was still looking pretty young…but I think battle with the illness that ultimately claimed her….was rough on her in some many ways. RIP Sondra Locke

Hey Dan…sorry to be the person that brought you this bad news. I have not seen Ratboy…but I remember it being part of the problem between Clint and Sondra. It barely got released in theaters. Thanks for the feedback.
