  1. Steven Seagal eh, interesting subject. I was a fan back in the 90s. Not so much when he started putting on weight and his films went straight to video. It was good to see him back on the big screen in Machete, and playing a villain this time. A shame Stallone couldn’t get him in one of the Expendables films, they would have had to rename it the Expandables though.

Just 13 theatrical? The DTVs outnumber the theatricals, oh how the mighty have fallen. To be fair bigger names like Bruce Willis and Nicolas Cage are in Direct to Video hell too now.

According to my datafiles I’ve seen 17 Seagal films. All 13 theatricals from your chart and 4 from the DTV chart – Belly of the Beast, Mercenary for Justice, Flight of Fury and Force of Execution.

I have the first 7 films he made on blu-ray. My favorites – Above the Law, Hard to Kill, Out for Justice, Marked for Death and Under Siege, his first 5.

Btw Above the Law was retitled ‘Nico’ here in the UK.

Machete is rated far too highly on the critics chart, it has some fun over-the-top violence but it was in no way a ‘great’ movie and not in the same league as Seagal’s 1990s theatricals particularly Under Siege.

Broke James Bond’s wrist? Didn’t know that. He was a very good martial artist in those early films, different from Van Damme and Norris, Seagal’s fights were quick and brutal no need for spinning and somersaults. In the recent films I’ve seen him in he has slowed down a lot because of his age and weight and he uses a fight double for some of the flashier moves.

    Nice work Bruce. Voted Up!

    1. Hey Steve.
      1. Thanks for checking out our latest page.
      2. I think your thoughts on Seagal is the way most people think of him….”I was a fan back in the 90s. Not so much when he started putting on weight and his films went straight to video”.
      3. I do give him credit…he has lost many of his fans….but the ones that stayed with him are some very dedicated fans…..which probably explains why he has been able to crank out close to 40 VOD movies in the last 15 years.
      4. I agree he would have been a good villain in The Expendables…..it actually takes awhile to remember who the villain was in part 1…..let’s see Gibson was the bad guy in 3, JCVD was the bad guy in 2 and Eric Roberts was the bad guy in 1….Seagal would have been a better fit.
      5. You are correct…Seagal is not the only star stuck in VOD hell…..I wonder if Cage and Willis will ever return to mainstream major movie releases.
      6. Tally count…you 17 (13 & 4 straight to DVD movies, me 11 (8 & 3 straight to DVD movies) and Flora 4.
      7. Machete was a hit with critics and audiences…..normally a 38 UMR Score would be way down the ranking list…..but here it sits in 3rd place. I am happy with the Top 2 movies….both are my favorites. Machete not happy you are ripping his movie. Machete will be keeping an eye on you. Machete is such a big star he can talk in third person.
8.Yep it is sad that he has to use a body double….but he is a member of AARP….lol.
      Appreciate your time.

  2. Brand new page radar for me.

    LOL.

I’m not as familiar with Steven’s career, so I will not be finishing on the podium.

Cool interesting fact about Sean Connery and Never Say Never Again.

    Films I’ve seen:

Only 4 of them from the perspective of an actor.

However, I would LOVE to know a full complete list of movies in which he was a martial arts consultant.

    1. Hey Flora.
      1. Thanks for checking out a page that I am sure is not one of your favorites.
      2. Tally count…and yes you are already in trouble….Steve 17 (13 & 4 straight to DVD movies, me 11 (8 & 3 straight to DVD movies) and you 4.
      3. It looks like he has 6 martial arts credits on IMDb……The Challenge, Never Say Never Again, Above The Law, Hard To Kill, Marked for Death and Force of Execution.
      4. I find the Connery fact very interesting…surprised I had never heard that before.
Thanks for the comment, the visit and the movie thoughts….all are greatly appreciated.

  3. Love the man. His fighting skills are the best. Above the Law, Hard to Kill, Under Siege ,Exit Wounds and Urban Justice are easily the best Seagal movies. Hope they attach this link to the main page on his site. I am sure his fans will love this.

    1. Hey SS4President. I enjoyed his fighting approach too. I have seen and enjoyed 4 of the 5 you mentioned…I have not seen Urban Justice. Glad you found the link on Facebook….I shared it in a few places there….and based on the source of views….somebody posted the link…though now I can find it…so I can thank them. Sadly in the world of spam….many people just don’t allow anything on their Facebook pages. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Not a huge fan but I found this page interesting. So he broke Connery’s hand. Did he get fired over that? Seems breaking James Bond’s hand is a fireable offense.

    1. Hey Helakoski…..I don’t know if he got fired for breaking Sir Sean’s hand….but I imagine…they were pretty mad at him. I will have to see want happened to him…thanks for the stopping by.

  5. I guess I had not been paying attention as I was very surprised that he has become a VOD actor and has been that way for awhile. I have heard and seen many from the first list, but have never even heard of any on the second list. Under Siege and Marked For Death were ones I enjoyed and watched all the time.

    1. Hey Turner…..well I give him credit….he is keeping very busy… I think he has 6 to 8 movies in 2016 alone….seems the VOD market is becoming the B market of the 1930s. I also enjoyed Marked for Death and Under Siege. Thanks for checking out our latest page.
