UMR Review of The Dig (2021)
This is based on a true story. It stars Ralph Fiennes as an archaeologist that embarks on the historically important excavation of Sutton Hoo in 1938 which is on the property of Carey Mulligan. First half of the movie is easily the best part, as it focuses on Fiennes and Mulligan. The second half introduces many new characters and it takes away from the enjoyable story we followed in the first half. Still, this is a very good movie, with a superb performance from Mulligan. Fiennes is also very good in the movie. Final thought: An enjoyable movie.

I couldn’t believe the story of the deteriorating marriage of Lily James and Sam Chaplin. I thought they were characters made up for the film but they were real people also,
Hey Dan…once those supporting characters arrived the movie lost its momentum..it least in my eyes. Even if they based on real people.
