1. Thomas Cruise Moapther IV was born in Syracuse, New York in 1962.

2.  Tom Cruise spent part of his childhood in Canada. His family moved to Beacon Hill, Ottawa, in late 1971

3.  Tom Cruise took up acting after losing his place on a high school wrestling team due to a knee injury.

4. Tom Cruise’s first movie appearance was playing Brooke Shields’ brother in 1981’s Endless.

5. Tom Cruise has received three Oscar® nominations for acting.  Best Actor nominations for Born on the 4th of July and Jerry Maguire.  He got a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Magnolia.

6. Tom Cruise has received seven Golden Globe® nominations for acting….. winning three times. Cruise helped the following actors win Academy Awards®……Paul Newman in The Color of Money, Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man, and Cuba Gooding Jr. in Jerry Maguire.

7. Tom Cruise was the first actor to have the distinction of starring in both the year’s Oscar® winner for Best Picture, Rain Man (1988) and the year’s Razzie® “winner” for Worst Picture, Cocktail (1988).

8. Tom Cruise was named the #1 top moneymaking star at the box office in Quigley Publications annual poll of movie exhibitors a record seven times between 1986 and 2005.

9.  Tom Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman made three movies together: Days of Thunder (1990), Far and Away (1992) and Eyes Wide Shut (1999). They met on the set of Days of Thunder.

17.  Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman arrived in the fall of 1996 to shoot 1999’s Eye Wide Shut, they expected to be wrapped and back in Los Angeles by the following spring.  Instead, the production didn’t conclude until January 1998.

18.  While filming 2018’s Mission Impossible – Fallout,  Tom Cruise fractured his ankle in a stunt where he leaped from a building. Production was halted for seven weeks, but the July 2018 release date was kept.
