UMR Movie Review of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020)
This is a fascinating movie that has two Oscar caliber performances. Viola Davis plays Ma Rainey while Chadwick Boseman plays a member of her band. Both Davis and Boseman are amazing in this movie. Davis completely becomes Ma. My only complaint would be that at times scenes seem to repeat themselves and it seems every 10 minutes the audience gets preached to. Final thought: The performances alone make this worth checking out.
