  1. Last night I watched my first Colleen Moore movie: Why Be Good? It was an enjoyable silent movie. It had been recorded on my DVR for about a month and I was inspired to try it out since I saw you make this page for Moore and I realized I had not seen any. I hope TCM has more of her movies in their roster. As has been said before, some movies are lost forever.

    1. Hey Flora…..that is awesome that you got to see a Colleen Moore movie. Glad our Moore page got you motivated to watch it. Even better news that you liked her movie. The power of TCM. Hope they get some more Moore movies in the rotation. Good comment.

  2. Thanks for posting this! I wonder how many CAN be seen today, and at what effort?

It continually amazes me how poorly preserved the hit movies of this era were. Films were clearly big business at this time already, with reels going out to many different theaters across the country, and a whole press supporting its spread; yet even in the case of the biggest stars, their work is so often lost entirely.

Film is fragile, and I guess it never occurred to anyone that you could make money off of these things twice, let alone for each of a dozen generations now… a shame.

Thanks again! I’m sure these old ones are quite difficult to compile.

    1. Hey Shaun. Thanks for checking out our Colleen Moore page. According to Wiki….almost half of her movies are lost or incomplete….that is a horrible %…….but it is closing in on 100 years on almost every one of her movies. Of the remaining films….I am not thinking many can be seen…I know I have not seen a single Moore movie….and I watch a ton of movies. I agree with your comment 100%. Good comment.

Thanks for sharing the information on her Top 10 Box Office Years and her Oracle connections through the decades. 10 Oscar winning co-stars is pretty good considering she only made a handful of movies after they were created.

Really liked your Oracle connections on the current Top 10 and Moore….not to mention the others……being partial to Peyton Manning……I wonder how many connections to would take to get get Peyton to Colleen.

Let’s see. Peyton was in Ferdinand…which also starred Bobby Cannavale. Cannavale was in Fast Food Nation with Bruce Wills. Willis was in Nobody’s Fool and The Verdict with Paul Newman. Newman was in Hombre with Fredric March. March was Moore’s co-star in Footlights and Fools (1929).
