Cogerson Review of Deadpool 2
Why I watched this one? Loved Deadpool…..figured this would be a good time too.
What is this one about? Deadpool takes on Cable in a plot taken straight from Terminator and Looper.
Ten Non Spoiler Thoughts:
1. Like the original this is a fun movie.
2. Watching Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is still a blast.
3. Loved the constant barrage of “in jokes”, movie references and superhero genre bashing.
4. Julian Dennison is fine in the “John Connor” role…..but the movie does a poor job of showing us why we should care if he lives or dies. He generally does not have many redeeming qualities.
5. Josh Brolin’s Thanos vs Josh Brolin’s Cable….I liked Cable….but Thanos is easily the better of the two performances.
6. Not enough Negasonic Teenage Warhead or Colossus in this movie. I was also not as impressive with Domino as I thought I was going to be….sure she is fine….but based on reviews and internet buzz I was expecting to be blown away.
7. But I was blown away by the main X-Force Team attack …job well done.
8. At times….I found the pacing of the movie to be on the sluggish side.
9. The mid-credit scene is probably the best credit scene EVER! There is no end credit scene…..so you can leave after the first credit scene.
10. A nice addition to the Marvel world of movies….but like Guardians of the Galaxy 2…..this is a good movie but falls short of the original.

So, not as good as the first than.They rarely are. Spider-Man 2 better than 1? Yup. Avengers 2? nope. Dark Knight was better than Batman Begins. Iron Man 1 was better than Iron Man 2.
I know a lot of people prefer The Empire Strikes Back over the first Star Wars but I’m not one of them. I loved that first movie and have very nostalgic feelings for it. It had a beginning, middle and an end. A war movie set among ther stars… hey… that’s probably why they called it Star Wars! [cue groans]
I also prefer the first Godfather movie to the second, it’s fashionable to prefer Godfather II but the first one had Brando.
I saw Deadpool 2 a few days ago. It was laugh out loud funny, but I agree the first one was better. Worth staying for the mid credits time travel craziness.
I should be seeing Solo this week but the reviews have been mixed.

About to see my 4th movie in theaters this year. 7 minutes to Deadpool2 showtime. Joining Game Night, Ready Player One and Infinity War.

Hey Steve….the plan is for us to see it this weekend….it will mark the 4th trip of the year to see a movie in a theater…sorry cinema…..joining Game Night, Ready Player One and Avengers:Infinity War. I enjoyed Ryan Reynolds having a blast promoting DeadPool 2. Good stuff as always.
