UMR Review of Don’t Look Up (2021)
The latest big budget movie from NetFlix. This one has one helluva of a cast: Leo, Jen, Meryl, Jonah, Tyler, Cate, Timothee and Mark. This is a combo of Dr. Strangelove, Armageddon & Chicken Little. In this one, a planet killer asteroid is on a direct course to hit Earth. This satire does not always hit it’s mark but landed enough to keep me entertained. The standout performances, in my opinion were Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Rylance. I think the movie would have benefited if it was not so long…as it dragged in a few places. Final thought: I liked this movie, and I am thinking about it hours after watching it.
Make sure you watch the final scenes after the credits start rolling….one of those scenes features my “new” favorite Meryl Streep scene of all-time.
It was okay, actually saw this in a movie theater and I was the only one there. Red Notice (another Netflix epic) had played in a couple of theaters out here too. Jennifer Lawrence was wasted.
Hey Dan…wow….I thought the cast of Don’t Look Up would have gotten some more people to see this one in theaters….I am glad I saw it at home. Good stuff as always.
