Getting To Know WoC – 10 Questions

This is the first in a new series of “Getting to Know”  Pages from Ultimate Movie Rankings.com.   We figured it was a good time to interview some of the people that have made UMR a success.  First up is WoC (Wife of Cogerson). WoC is not only the love of my life and my best friend, but she is also the person that got UMR to grow and improve over the years.  Without her, this little experiment would have probably ended in early 2011.

WoC and Cogerson teaching DoC3.

Cogerson – What was the first movie you remember?

WoC – That would have to be 1965’s That Darn Cat!  We used to watch Disney movies every Sunday night when I was growing up.  It was the only time we could eat dinner in front of the television.   I really liked that movie.  An added bonus was the fact that the star of the movie, Dean Jones, was from our hometown in Alabama.

Cogerson –  Who was the first actor or actress that you knew by their actual name?

WoC – That would be Doris Day. My mom would always call me into the room when one of her movies was playing on television.  She would tell me that I shared my birthday with her. We were both born on April 3rd.

Cogerson – What was the first R-rated movie that you saw?

WoC – I got in trouble for staying out late to watch it, but The Breakfast Club was my first R-rated movie.

Cogerson –  How would you describe movies that you enjoy watching?

WoC –  I love a movie that makes me think.  I like movies that have characters that I can easily associate myself with them.

Cogerson –  So what are your Top 3 All-Time Favorite Movies?

WoC –  In alphabetical order, I will go with The American President, The Incredibles and The Sound of Music.

Cogerson – Good movies, any movies you really really disliked?

WoC – The Butterfly Effect.  The only movie in my life that I actually walked out of the theater on.  There is a scene with a dog and a canvas bag.  After seeing that scene, I headed for the exit doors.

Cogerson – Do you have any favorite actors or actresses?

WoC – Hmmmm…….well I like Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks a lot.  Not sure I would say they are my favorites but they are the ones that come to my mind.

Cogerson – When did you realize that I was a huge movie fan?

WoCYou kept that pretty quiet for a while. I remember thinking you and the boys were huge Adam Sandler fans.  I actually thought if we stayed together, that I would be sentenced to watching Sandler movies for the rest of my life.

Cogerson – The boys loved him, so we had many of his movies.  I was hit and miss when it came to his movies.  A couple of them (Little Nicky and 8 Crazy Nights) were so bad I wanted to leave the theater, but the boys were laughing so hard we stayed until the bitter end.

Cogerson – Do you remember the movie that we watched at your house on our first date?  It was sitting on your DVD rack, and I was impressed you owned it.

WoC – From The Hip.

Cogerson – That is correct.

Cogerson – Which idea do you think was my best idea when it comes to our website?

WoC – I really like the “versus” pages.  Pixar vs DreamWorks, Marvel vs DC and Star Trek vs Star Wars.

Cogerson – Those were Bryan (SoC1) and Abby’s (DILOC1) ideas.

WoC –  Ok….I like that we left HubPages and now own and control the website.

Cogerson – Well…..that was your idea.

WoC – Hmmmm….let’s see.  I really like the trailer pages.

Cogerson – Well…..that was actually George’s idea.

WoC –  Ok….I love the logo and the fact that the website is now dynamic.

Cogerson –  Once again, those were your ideas.

WoC – Ok….let me think….thinking…..oh…..I like the Possibly Interesting Facts section on the pages.

Cogerson – Thank you.  And thank you for answering these questions and thanks for all the work you have done on our website.  It would not have happened without you.  You are awesome.

This logo is just one of WoC’s great ideas!

  2. Getting to know you, getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you, getting to hope you like me.
Getting to know you, putting it my way,
    But nicely,
    You are precisely,
    My cup of tea.

    Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy
    When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say
    Haven’t you noticed
    Suddenly I’m bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I’m learning about you
    Day by day.

    1. A new member of my amateur film buffs group dropped in as I was [for a 2nd time] glancing though the exchanges between The Work Horse and W o C and he has not yet had time to hear of any of “The Usual Suspects” who frequent the Cogerson site.

Looking over my shoulder at the laptop Friend o Bob asked “Who are those two people who are chatting?” I explained that they were the site’s moderator and his wife; whereupon F o Bob turned to his girlfriend who was standing in the dooway and exclaimed “My goodnes Joan – there’s a guy here who doesn’t know who his own wife is!”

Joan laughed and quickly burst into song with

“I know a man who danced with his wife
In Chicago Chicago my home town.”

    1. Hey Flora. Like I just commented to Steve I’ll be sending you some questions in the near future so we can get a review on Flora on the website. Glad you like the information on Debbie, I figure It is about time to share a little more information about people that come here on a regular basis. Hope all is going well in your area and things are not too stressful.

  3. Good stuff! It’s uncanny how much like Julia Roberts WoC looks…. oh wait … that was Julia… and that’s not Bruce, that’s Tom Hanks! 🙂

    Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out Debbie’s interview. You’ll be getting an email soon asking you some questions and we will do a Steve Lenzman interview in the near future. Hope all is going well in England, and that you have plenty of food no sickness and lots of toilet paper.I think Debbie looks a lot more like Julia Roberts then I look like Tom Hanks. Are usually get compared to Jeff Daniels and a very young Robin Williams. Thanks for the comment it is greatly appreciated

    2. STEVE

No wonder you’re confused. A few of my friends in the movie buffs group who have looked at the exchanges have been saying things like

“Who’s the twit in the T shirt- you can’t see his/her face?”

“Is that a man or a woman in the T shirt? You can’t see his or her face.

Actually I thought that W o C looks like Minnie Driver of Circle of Friends and Good Joel Hunting rather than like my Julia. I am assuming that the pretty woman in the picture IS W o C and it’s not a case of “When the cat’s away the mouse will play.” [YOU know what I mean! Whoever’s prancing around in the T shirt gives the imporession of being a bit untrustworthy anyway

    1. Hey Emily. Well this is history in the making. The first time you have ever commented on the website I am so proud of my 11-year old. Proud day for your father, you have made my day. Let’s hope you do another comment before you’re 22… LOL.
