Attended WoC’s Uncle Gus’ funeral this weekend. At one point during the weekend we were looking through some of his old pictures. We found the following picture from Auburn’s Tiger Theater. The picture looks like it was taken between 1945 and 1950. Back then, the studios sent out their actors to promote films….sometimes they ended up at the 715 seat Tiger theater. WoC’s granddad is in the middle….it is possible….that the people on the left and right might be actors. So the question is….can anybody identify either person? I feel I disappointed the family when I could not identify the lady by the microphone…any help would be greatly appreciated…..if only to redeem myself in my family’s eyes.
Bess Flowers and Arthur Tovey, no I can’t recognize either of them and don’t even know what Mr. Tovey looked like.
Hey Dan….thanks for guessing….too bad it was not Bess Flowers….lol. We (WoC) and myself plan on checking out the local library the next time we visit Auburn….which might be soon, since we just bought some property down there. Once again…thanks for trying to answer this mystery.
I have been trying to identify the people in the photos, but am unable to help any further than what has already been suggested. That woman holding the microphone does look like Marion Hutton, but I am not really familiar with her career.
Hey Flora…your efforts are greatly appreciated….at this point it might take a trip to the Auburn library and research old newspaper articles that might detail which if any movie stars visited the Tiger theater. Thanks again for doing that research.
