  1. Hi Bruce
You need to check the link to the June Haver page on the Site Index. Every time I click on her name, I get the Newest UMR Pages page. Fortunately, I was able to find June Haver’s page by doing a search of the website. Hopefully, you will be to fix this problem in the near future. Thanks In Advance.

    1. Hey Greg. Good catch. Not only did I fix that broken link….I have given this page an update….as it now has three tables of information versus just one. Once again, thank you.

  2. HI BRUCE

1 To a boy in his early teens Hollywood films were easy to remember even where one had not seen them because the iconic titles could conjure up longings for far away places not yet and usually never to be visited like Home in Indiana or were simply romantic-sounding and comforting like Sweet Rosie O’Grady [Grable herself] and the Daughter of Rolsie O’Grady [Haver with Debbie Reynolds also a daughter]

2 Also at that age one seldom questioned a belief that the characters named in the title actually existed/had existed. I don’t think Rosie existed but the Dolly Sisters did exist though whilst I don’t know how Grable/Haver interpreted them on screen they seem both to have been right real-life pains in the*** !

3 The Rosie O’G films were also easier to remember and especially appealing if one knew the associated song wriiten by Maude Nugent way back in 1896

    Sweet Rosie O’Grady,
    My dear little Rose,
    She’s my steady lady,
    Most ev’ryone knows.
    And, when we are married,
    How happy we’ll be;
    I love sweet Rosie O’Grady,
    And Rosie O’Grady loves me.

4 I wonder if today’s teenagers get as excited by titles such as A Good Day to Die Hard or Vin Diesel’s The Fast and the Furious 8.

    1. Hey Bob…..wonderful comment about your teenage years. Fun to read….and helps fill in the Bob picture even more. As for today’s teenagers…..not thinking they are excited by all of these retreads, remakes and sequels. Good stuff.

  3. June Have…who? Hey, that’s one of the things I like about this site. One discovers long-forgotten stars through pages like this and the informative comments people make 🙂

    1. Hey PhilHOF17…..right there with you. My knowledge of Haver was very limited as well. I was pleasantly surprised that it has gotten some nice UMR support from the readers and commentors. Good stuff.

  4. 1 HI BRUCE As you say June Haver was brought in to be another Betty Grable [and your nice little miniature still which I liked shows how lookalike they were and perfect as the Dolly Sisters] but June was never as popular as Grable so as even Betty herself today is almost regarded by many as a forgotten star it follows that only on a far-reaching site like yours is one likely to find a serious profile of someone like June. She may not have made enough films to interest even Steve in producing a video on her though the colourful posters for her type of film would be ideally suited to Steve’s stock in trade.

2 Her short movie career lasted from just 1941 until 1953 though her personal happiness must have been long-lasting enough because her marriage to Fred of 37 years was a lifetime by Hollywood standards. Also whilst her first few roles were brief/uncredited she was subsequently very prominent in the films that she did make occupying lead roles/the lead role in most of her films from the 1944 Home in Indiana to her final flick 1953’s The Girl Next Door.

3 I can’t recall viewing any of June’s films as I had just started watching movies when she retired from them but I can vividly remember seeing posters and stills for her last handful of films at the many cinemas around Belfast in the early 1950s. Indeed I particularly recall standing outside Belfast’s Royal Cinema gazing at the lovely stills/lobby cards for 1950s The Daughter of Rosie* O’Grady though I was not interested in going in – Audie was playing across the square in The Kid from Texas! *Slight amendment to your own stated title required.

4 Because of my relative ignorance of June’s movies your profile of her has been to some extent a learning curve for me so as a classic era buff I welcome this Haver page.

    1. Hey Bob….thanks for checking out our June Haver page…..it is getting a much stronger response than I thought it would be getting. I like you did not much about her….but her box office record is pretty impressive. What a memory you have….remembering looking at the poster for The Daughter of Rosie O’Grady.

I agree her marriage to Fred MacMurray was one of the great Hollywood marriages. Too bad June Haver did not get a small role in MacMurray’s very last movie….The Swarm….if she had…my tally would be 1.

      Good stuff.
