Drivel part of the page:  For some reason I decided it would be good idea to write a new movie page every other day in January.  Well this Kate Winslet page was researched, written and published on January 31st, 2016.  Which means we accomplished our goal.  Overall we wrote 20 movie pages in the month.  Michael E., who is one of my wife’s co-workers, requested this page and 4 others a few months ago.  Well we have finally fulfilled that request 100%.

  1. Hi

I’ve always admired Kate Winslet. I loved her in Heavenly Creatures and Sense and Sensibility. But I think no matter what she does, she will always be remembered for Rose from Titanic. Which of course is no shame. She wisely has went for smaller independent productions and I think that has kept her career afloat.
She did Mildred Pierce for a T.V. series, personally they would be better just showing the 1945 classic. But I think she an actress who’s always going to come up with surprises.

    1. Hey Chris….She is very good in Heavenly Creatures. I agree she will always be Rose…no matter how many movies she makes. 7 Oscar nominations was a surprise…I had no idea she had gotten that many…..she has a chance to end up with a very good total…..like amongst the most of all-time. I thought Mildred Pierce was ok….but the Joan even limited with censors has more bite and is very entertaining. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your Winslet thoughts.

  2. The great Kate. Oscar nominated 7 times already, impressive. When will Milla Jovovich get her overdue nomination? 🙂

I liked Titanic, James Cameron did an excellent job putting all that together, a huge gamble at the time many calling it ‘Cameron’s Folly’ but he had the last laugh when it went on to be the highest grossing film of all time.

The song suited the tone of the film, it was a tragic romance and we’re supposed to shed tears for one death not the 1500 that also perished in the most famous maritime disaster in history, well that’s Hollywood.

I’ve seen 15 of the 29 films listed here. I supposed if I had to choose one Winslet movie it would be Titanic, but I also liked her in Eternal Sunshine, The Reader and most recently Steve Jobs.

I haven’t seen Sense & Sensibility or Iris. Voted Up!

    1. Hey Steve thanks for stopping by. Let’s see….tally counts….22 for me….15 for you….and 4 for Flora. I did not realize she had some many Oscar noms. I thought she was the favorite to win a second Oscar this year…but it looks like she has the 3rd best chance to win…at least according to Vegas.

Not thinking Milla is getting any Oscar love anytime soon…but it does not hurt to hope…..lol. Titanic is awesome in 3D…..but the storyline is still the weakest part of the movie. Have not seen Steve Jobs yet….but it should be on DVDS soon.
Iris is good but depressing….S & S is actually pretty good….or at least it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Thanks for Winslet thoughts….they are greatly appreciated.

    1. Hey Katie. She has been very busy. I was very surprised that she only has 3 big hits in her career…. With the Divergent movies being two of those movies…..thanks for stopping by.

  3. Hi, Bruce.

Kate Winslet is one of the artists my age working today who does interest me. Probably it is because she makes high quality movies. I agree with her about the song. I hate it, and that is a main reason why I avoided it.

No point in talking about my views per ranking. I have seen 4 of her movies. I love Sense and Sensibility best.

Glad to see another actress page.

    Congratulations on completing your goal.

    Flora

    1. Hey Flora….tomorrow is going to be a very busy day….so I figured I would have to publish this page before going to bed….pretty sure this was the most productive month ever for getting these pages written. Yep 6 out 7 being actresses has to make up for the 18 page streak of no actresses. I have seen 22 of the listed movies. Actually with the exception of one day…this was a pretty easy goal to reach. Sense and Sensibility is actually pretty good…pretty much got forced into watching that one. As always thanks for your thoughts on Kate Winslet.
