  1. I saw 9 including top 7. 10 not a favorite: la confidential, 9 and favorite blind date(yea bruce, sorry we disagree , I just love to laugh. strangely I hated nice guys). 9 not a favorite: the natural.

    1. bob cox? Very cool. Hope your new job is calming down. Glad to see you back on the website. Blind Date a 10? Hey….glad to see somebody appreciate a Bruce Willis movie….so I will happily disagree with you…lol. LA Confidential is a classic…..though it seems to be getting somewhat forgotten as time marches on. The Natural is a fun movie to watch. Good stuff.

  2. For some reason I seem to remember Kim Basinger in various forms of undress in numerous films especially has she got older. She’d be 55 say and still doing semi-nude scenes or portraying women much younger than she was. Seemed kind of desperate to me. She’s like Sally Kirkland who O think is the highest ranked female on the Oracle of Bacon list and would still pop up in cheap idiot comedies topless over the age of 70.

    Kim is # 536 on the Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. These are the other actors on the list she appeared with.

    1. Hey Dan. Good trivia points on Kim Basinger. Not sure I remember here doing the “Kirkland” as she aged. I find it amazing that it has been 22 years since her last movie L.A. Confidential. Heck, the director of that movie has been gone for 3 full years already…..time flies. That director cast Kim in her two biggest movies…besides L.A….they also made 8 mile as well.

      Surprised Kim is that high on the Oracle list….I imagine she is moving down the list versus continuing to move up. Most frequent co-stars from the first list: Mickey Rourke with 3 movies….and many with 2 movies. Looking at the second list….25 Oscar winning stars is slightly below average….good to see you list Tom Hanks….I actually saw Elvis Has Left The Building…I was shocked when Tom Hanks popped up in that one….if memory serves correctly….he played a guy stuck in a mailbox. Good stuff as always.

  3. I have seen 4 Kim Basinger movies.

    Two movie are favourites;

    L.A. Confidential
    The Natural

    Other 2 Kim Basinger Movies I’ve Seen;

    Batman
    Never Say Never Again

    1. Hey Flora….thanks for stopping by and commenting on Kim Basinger. You have seen her 4 most famous movies. Her Oscar winning performance in LA Confidential, her biggest box office hit Batman and the two movies that started getting her noticed…her Bond role in Never Say Never Again and The Natural…..as she was one of three actresses in that one…Glenn Close and Barbara Hershey being the other two. Working on a Richard Egan page next…so Back to the 1950s here at UMR. Good stuff as always.

  4. Sexy Kim gets a UMR page, nice work.

    I’ve seen 19 of the 38 films on the chart. Favorites include – Batman, My Stepmother is an Alien, Never Say Never Again, The Nice Guys, Cellular and LA Confidential.

    If it wasn’t for Batman, 8 Mile would have been her most popular film, playing Eminem’s mother. Good film but I think I’ve only watched it once, I remember being impressed with Eminem’s acting.

    Cellular was an enjoyable action movie. Chris Evans was the hero, Basinger the victim and in a change of pace Jason Statham as the main villain.

    Good stuff Bruce and thanks for the video share. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve…thanks for the comment, visit and sharing your thoughts on Kim Basinger. Tally count…I have seen 24 of the movies listed above. So I am slightly ahead of you. Of your favorites…give me Batman, LA Confidential (my ex-wife’s favorite movie) and Never Say Never Again. I liked The Nice Guys….but it is no Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. 8 Mile was a big hit…I was always surprised Eminem did not make more movies. I agree with you on Cellular…a good popcorn movie. One movie that did not make my list…could have made your list is Elvis Has Left The Building…which features Tom Hanks playing a mailbox in a cameo. Always glad to include your videos…I bet there are close to 1000 of your videos roaming around this website. Good feedback as always.

  5. HI BRUCE Wikipedia describes Kim as a “Sex symbol of the 1980s and 1990s” and certainly in the early days I thought she had the capacity for stardom at around Sandra Bullock’s level; but it was not to be.

    She is not even an ‘also ran’ on page 16 of your book, nor was she apparently among those even considered for inclusion in your 25 Legends 1950-2010. Your tables above also tell a dismal tale for her: leaving aside her supporting roles in the 50 Shades pair of movies [which other critics join your own sources in reviewing poorly] Kim has had just one major box office success in the almost quarter century since LA Confidential: 8 mile. [Indeed in 50 Shades Freed Kim is in the unrated version only].

    However she is not an unwealthy woman if Celebrity Net Worth is accurate in quoting her fortune in the bank as amounting to $40 million; IMDB credits her with 14 acting awards and 24 noms.

    When I discuss this new page with my pals in the amateur movie buffs group there will probably be expressions of surprise that she has received no Cogerson love before this: most of us usually primarily think of her as Mr Gimme More’s co-star in Blind Date, and although that movie gets just a 43% rating in the table above, one would have thought that the Willis association would still have made Kim more [no pun attended!] of a Cogerson ‘pet’!

    Anyhow better late than never, so this new page is “Voted Up” for old time sake in connection with nostalgic memories of Kim in the 80s and 90s. Au revoir for now and don’t watch too many Xmas movies while I’m away. Some of them can be bad for your health, so don’t be ‘Hard’ on yourself – again of course no pun intended!

    1. Hey Bob….thanks for sharing your thoughts on Kim Basinger. Her career started off pretty strong…the 1980s were her peak. I do not think she ever recovered from the bad press of The Marrying Man…which I actually enjoy watching. After that…the lead roles in big budget movies pretty much went away….and she has become a supporting actress in bigger movies or the lead in low budget movies. She did turn 39 the year after The Marrying Man….just in case you were wondering. It looks like she has done well for herself…collecting a nice net worth. I did see Blind Date in theaters….never been a huge fan of that one….as I always felt somebody forgot to bring the funny to that one. Good comment as always. Enjoy your trip.

      1. HI Bruce: Thanks for the feedback.

        I used to confuse Blind Date with Nine and a Half Weeks also starring early Kim. Indeed for a long time I was under the delusion that Willis had been her leading man in both movies, possibly influenced by the Basinger connection, the fact that Brucie and Mickey were both ‘tough guys’ and that they surfaced on our screens the same year; Wiki lists the professionally active years for both of them as “1979-present” though of course Mickey has never been nearly as successful as Mr Gimme More.

        Your sources rate Nine and a Half Weeks much higher than Blind Date 59% to 43% respectively though even the higher rating is slightly less than good by your normal yardsticks. IMDB’s assessment is exactly even and kinder: 60% rating for both flicks.

        On the respective posters for the two films Kim gets billed above Mickey; but Brucie and Kim compromised with Newman/McQueen Towering Inferno type billing: Kim’s name to the left and Willis’ name after hers but raised above Kim’s.

        Anyway I will catch up with you again in about a week’s time; meanwhile keep safe.

        1. Hey Bob…..interesting that you got Blind Date and 9 1/2 Weeks mixed up. I can see getting Willis and Rourke mixed up when they first appeared on the scene in the 1980s. However…by the time they made Sin City together…..the two had traveled in much different paths. I will have to re-visit Blind Date’s critical review %….that was literally one of the first movies included in the database….as it was part of the first page I ever wrote…all the way back in late 2010 early 2011. I bet the % is a least slightly better…as we calculate that % different these days. Good feedback…travel safely.

          1. Hey Bob….yep….Blind Date went up slightly….back then I used RottenTomatoes’ critic score only….now I use a combo from RottenTomatoes….plus the years have been kind to BlindDate….as it’s IMDb score looks like it went from 5.0 (then) to 6.0 (today). Now it has a review % of 50.50%….which in my rating book would be slightly less than average.
