  1. I love UMR. great comments. I saw 6, one favourite, monty python and the holy grail , a 10. I especially like UMR’s review column. if review is over 75 or review plus UMR total above 160 then I feel compelled to add it to my watch list if I have not already seen it. especially movies that are favourites of any of the regular commenters. no such luck on this page. I have seen the favorites except prince valiant.
knights who say NEEK!!! lets gallop off (with our coconuts). African or European swallow? huge tracts of ….land. did you leave the grail light on again? just a flesh wound. hideous red eyes. I’ll chew your kneecaps off. I taunt you a second time, you English……..

    1. Hey bob cox….thanks for the tally and the comment…both are greatly appreciated. 6 is a little less than 33%. Interesting in using 75% as the range to watch a movie or not. Love all the scenes you reference from Monty Python and the Holy Grail….currently planning on watching that tomorrow…for the 50th time…lol Good feedback as always.

  2. Dennis: Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
    King Arthur: Be quiet!
Dennis: You can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just ’cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!
    King Arthur: Shut up!
Dennis: I mean, if I went around sayin’ I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me they’d put me away!

A quote from Monty Python and the Holy Grail – my favorite Monty Python movie and my favorite King Arthur movie too. Other favorites – Knights of the Round Table, The Sword in the Stone and Excalibur.

I’ve seen 12 of the 19 films on the chart, most recently Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur Legend of the Sword. I’ve only seen bits of the musical Camelot over the years not the entire movie.

First Knight was interesting but would have been a lot better if it used a bit of Merlin’s magic and some humor. I liked the music score more than the film.

John Boorman’s Excalibur is filled with great visuals, Nicol Williamson remains the definitive Merlin. Excalibur along with Disney’s Fantasia introduced me to the world of classical music, I wanted to hear more after watching those films at a young age.

    Excellent work Bruce. Voted Up!

And thanks for linking my old hub, brings back memories. 🙂

    1. Hey Steve
      1. Thanks for the comment, visit, tally and movie thoughts on King Arthur movies.
      2. 12 is pretty stout…..actually very surprised that you have not seen Camelot.
      3. Love the quote from Monty Python….that movie is filled with so many great lines and visuals…as a kid….the two scenes I could not get enough off…..where the knight at the bridge scene and the rabbit attacking scene.
      4. I agree with you about Excalibur….especially the Nicol Williamson as Merlin….seems that he and Helen Mirren did not get along …but their frosty personal relationship really helped sell their relationship in the movie.
      5. I was not too impressed with Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur….seemed he was more worried about creating a franchise…that he forgot to make a good movie….though I know a few people that love his version.
      Good stuff as always.

  3. I have seen 6 King Arthur movies. That includes the top 5 movies.

In order of preference they are:

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court – favourite
Monty Python and the Holy Grail – favourite
The Sword in the Stone – favourite
Camelot – great music but a bit too long
Knights of the Round Table – quite a spectacle
Prince Valiant – early Robert Wagner in a teen hearthrob role

    1. Hey Flora….I have seen 10…..but there are now 19 movies on the page…..got the other 4 movies from Steve’s vintage Hub Page on King Arthur movies.

Of your favorites…Monty Python and the Holy Grail is my favorite. First time I saw it was with my dad and brother and we laughed so hard. It is one of my favorite movies.

I think Wagner wishes that hairdo from Prince Valiant never existed. The first time I saw that movie I did not even recognize Sterling Hayden.
Good stuff as always, sorry I added movies after your comment.

      1. Regarding the 4 movies added from Steve’s King Arthur hub:

I have seen one of them: The Black Knight starring Alan Ladd. I enjoyed it, but I would list it last in preference order.

Therefore, I have seen 7 King Arthur Movies.

  4. I lke Nick’s suggestion. Always been interested in Arthur lore. Excaliber is my favorite. A close second would be First Knight. If only Richard Gere had not been in the movie. Love Connery in that movie.

    1. Hey Peter. Excalibur is my favorite as well. Arthur lore is pretty interesting. I love in Excalibur, how Arthur pulls it out accidentally. Thanks for stopping by.

  5. Ah….a comment box…what a nice addition to the page….lol.

Hey Steve….I will add your King Arthur Hub Page hub (wow have not shared one of hubs in years) to this page when we get home.

Looking at that hub I see about 3 or 4 missing movies….that I can add to the table. Thanks for that link.

Tally count for this 15 movies……I have seen 9 or 60%….favorites would include Excalibur and Sword in the Stone.

I think you will like one of the next two UMR pages…..it ranks a movie franchise that only has 9 movies….and has been around fir 50 years. You probably have a hub in the subject.
