  1. I admire Douglas for taking on some complex and controversial themes. Just saw him in Seven Days of May. Just a brilliant film. Burt is terrifying in this. Frederic March superb.

    1. I adore Seven Days in May and EVERYONE is brilliant in it (including, I agree, Douglas and March). My favorite performance is Edmond O’Brien as Senator Ray Clark.

    2. Seven Days In May is a classic. Of all of his movies….Seven Days in May got the 4th best reviews….that is impressive.

  2. A watershed moment for this rapidly maturing teenager was his role in “In Harms Way.” Taken by my revered 2nd cousin. I was blown away with the knowledge imparted in a first hand way of WWII, actions effecting results, rape, and black and white as a viable media for movies…. remember back then technocolour was important…. black and white and lost appeal…. this move is also John Wayne as a rough master of himself… very different than most period pieces…. gritty!

    1. Hey Jerry. Very interesting about how In Harm’s Way impacted you. I remember when I saw this movie….the rape scene seemed to come out of nowhere. I imagine back then it had to be pretty shocking…especially the way everything was censored. I think “gritty” is a great way to describe In Harm’s Way….thanks for stopping by and commenting..it is greatly appreciated.
