  1. The great Laird Cregar tried to lose weight too fast and his body couldn’t cope, he died of a heart attack in 1944, aged just 31.

I’ve seen 5 of the 14 films on the chart. They are – Heaven Can Wait (as the Devil), The Lodger, The Black Swan, Blood and Sand and This Gun for Hire, all favorites.

Looking at the chart he appeared in some big hits before his tragic end.

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve…..yep the short, awesome but tragic movie life of Laird Cregar. In photos he reminds me of Raymond Burr. Tally counts: Dan 14, Flora 8, you 5 and me 3. There are a couple of his movies I want to see…yet have never found them to watch…..I Wake Up Screaming and Blood and Sand….which I see you have listed in your favorites list. Good stuff as always.

  2. I have seen 8 of the films listed, including 4 of the top 5.

    Favourite Laird Cregar Movies:

Heaven Can Wait (not earlier version of Warren Beatty film of same name)
    Blood and Sand
    The Black Swan
    The Lodger
    I Wake Up Screaming
    This Gun For Hire
    Hangover Square

    1. I was in a hurry this morning when I made this comment. I should have included the following:

The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is Heaven Can Wait.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is Hello, Frisco, Hello.

The LOWEST rated movie I have seen is Hangover Square.

Thus, all the films I have seen have high ratings.

    2. Hey Flora….as always…thanks for the feedback…Tally counts…Dan has seen all 14 movies listed, you are in second with 8, Steve gets the bronze with 5 and I get the participation award for my 3 seen. I have seen 3 of your favorites. Good stuff as always.

    1. Hey Dan. Good job on seeing all 14 of his movies….he has two uncredited roles…if you have seen Granny Get Your Gun (he played a clerk) and Oh, Johnny How Can You Love (he played Sam) you would have seen everything he ever made on film. I am at 3. With The Black Swan easily being my favorite. Good stuff.

      1. I saw the Black Swan in 1979 at the Regency Revival Theater. They were doing a 20th Century Fox salute.

Alas whilst I have seen Granny Get Your Gun, I have not seen or even heard of Oh, Johnny How Can You Love (sounds like an old song).
