  1. As The Work Horse says above Marsha’s career spanned an amazing 73 years; and when you think of it the entire lives of the likes of Flynn and Ladd didn’t get beyond 50 years of age and Cooper and Gable didn’t live beyond 60. As Thomas Gray morbidly reflected in his Elegy “The paths of glory lead but to the grave.”

By contrast Marsha’s last 3 screen appearances were when she was in her 90s: (1) 2008 a 22-minute short entitled Grand Inquisitor in which Marsh was top-billed [eat your heart out Old Cantankerous!].

    (2) 2008 a TV movie The Empire State Building Murders in which Marsha was part of an ensemble cast that included Ben Gazzara; Kirk Douglas; Joe Yule Jr; Cyd Charisse; and Anne Jeffries an old Randy Scott leading lady in the westerns Trail Street and Return of the Badmen – with archive appearances by Cagney; Bacall; Eddie Robinson; and Lawrence Tierney who had played on screen John Dillinger who reportedly was one of the two Myrna Loy idolaters whom I’ve come across in my lifetime. It was also Kirk’s final TV appearance before his retirement and indeed his last performance in any medium.

    (3) in 2014 aged 96 a documentary in which she was herself called Marsha Hunt’s Sweet Adversity.

  2. I have seen 6 Marsha Hunt movies: Pride and Prejudice; Valley of Decision; Raw Deal; Bombers B-52 [aka No Sleep till Dawn] The Plunderers; and Legend of the Lost.

In the last named she is uncredited and it is not listed above by Bruce probably because she is not Myrna Loy [if she WERE possibly even The Duke would need to be omitted from the Cogerson credits for Legend of the Lost].

However on most occasions I have tended to identify and remember even reasonably important stars past and present who have appeared in John Wayne films down the years.

Though I have not seen many of Marsha’s big screen films I have managed to catch her recently in reruns of some of my fave television detective shows such as Ironside; Murder She Wrote; and Matlock.

On top of her movie and TV work she appeared in 4 radio presentations between 1945 and 1959. Back in the early decades of movie-making radio programs would feature even some of the biggest star names such as Bogie and Hank Fonda often reprising one or two of their classic movies.

  3. I think Marsha Hunt at 102 is now the oldest living actress from Hollywood’s golden era. Marsha has never been on the Oracle of Bacon Top 1000. These are the actors on the 2020 list she has appeared with.
