Want to know the best Milos Forman movies?  How about the worst Milos Forman movies?  Curious about Milos Forman box office grosses or which Milos Forman movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Milos Forman movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

Milos Forman (1932-2018) was a Czech American 2-time Oscar® winning film director, screenwriter and actor.   His IMDb page shows 20 directing credits from 1960-2009.  This page will rank 12 Milos Forman movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television roles, cameos, shorts and straight to DVD movies were not included in the rankings.  Sadly, this page was put together after hearing of his passing on April 13th.  Rest in Peace Mr. Forman.

Milos Forman Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort Milos Forman movies by his co-stars
  • Sort Milos Forman movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort Milos Forman movies by yearly domestic box office rank
  • Sort Milos Forman movies by how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Milos Forman movie received.
  • Sort Milos Forman movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

  1. Bruce, you’ve been spelling his name wrong all week, it’s Forman not Foreman, there is a George Foreman but he’s unrelated as far as I know. 🙂

Fewer films than I expected and I’ve only seen three – One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Amadeus and Hair. I have the first two on DVD.

Cuckoo’s Nest was a big hit, though it couldn’t beat Jaws at the box office that year but it did beat it at the 1976 Oscars.

    RIP Milos Forman

    1. Hey Steve. What’s an extra “e” among friends? I was so concerned about getting the accent above the s in his first name that I did not even look at his last name. That means his name is misspelled on our Oscar winning Best Director page too.

I have seen 7 of his movies. The top 6 and Black Peter. Surprised you have not seen Ragtime…it is pretty good and Cagney’s last role. Thanks for the heads up.

    1. Hey Taylor….2 Best Director Oscar wins for only 12 movies…pretty awesome…even more awesome when you realize the first movies of his career barely got released in North America. Thanks for the good thoughts and the visit. RIP Milos Foreman.

  2. Not many movies for his career. That being said he seemed to be a case of quality over quantity. One Flew Over Cuckoo Nest is a wonderful movie. Nicholson is amazing. Rest in peace.

    1. Hey Sanderson…thanks for checking out my Foreman tribute page. I agree Foreman got a great performance out of Nicholson in One Flew. RIP Mr. Foreman.
