  1. I saw 12 including 9 of top 12. tens not favorites: the English patient, the kings speech. 10 and favourite not included by UMR is Shakespeare in love. firth plays lord Wessex, has over 10 lines with Dench, Paltrow, others , I have seen smaller roles credited by UMR. hidden gem is tinker, tailer, soldier , spy (a 9). yea UMR, yea Cogerson. I love this site.

    1. Hey bob cox. Thanks for the tally count and the ratings of some of his movies. How did I miss Shakespeare In Love? Good catch….it will be here on the next website update. I guess I missed it either due to his other 2 Best Picture Oscar winning movies (thinking I had already added the movie) or it was a protest of Shakespeare In Love beating Saving Private Ryan for that win. Very disappointed in myself for missing that one. I agree Tinker, Tailer,Soldier & Spy is a very good movie. Good feedback.

  2. As mentioned in Bruce’s lead-in Colin Firth became a household name in the 1995 television adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and prejudice. In that serial he acted the classical literature-famous Mr Darcy, following in the footsteps of the great Olivier who played Darcy in the 1940 movie with Greer Garson.

I greatly admired Colin in that one and was delighted at his massive success in The King’s Speech (2010) following which he was for a time voted one of the “100 most influential people in the world.”

IMDB credits Colin with 68 acting awards and 56 nominations across the board. In an interview that I saw he in turn expressed his admiration of DeNiro, who Colin suggested had a great influence on his own career though I note he also idolised Tracy and some others.

Currently Firth has a reported net worth of $25 million. The Queen of England [and other dominions] has made him a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire [CBE].

I am certainly glad to see Colin earning a Cogerson page. “Vote Up!”

    1. Hey Bob….moved your comment to this page. Sorry about forgetting the comment box. I never saw his Pride and Prejudice….but like Downton Abby….I heard all about it. Firth was excellent in The King’s Speech. I remember…discussing The King’s Speech on HubPages…as it was the hot movie at the time, that I started this online adventure. Looks like Colin had some good acting heroes….De Niro, O’Toole and Tracy. $25 million…..not too bad at all. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Mr. Firth.

  3. Arsy Darcy (as Bridget Jones called him) gets his UMR page, and why not? Good actor.

He stuttered his way towards Oscar glory in The King’s Speech. I haven’t seen his other Oscar nominated film – A Single Man.

I’ve seen 10 of the 43 films on the chart, less than I thought – favorites are Kingsman 1 & 2, Bridget Jones Dairy, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The King’s Stutter.

I’ve only seen bits of The English Patient over the years but I know the story, it’s a Best Picture Oscar Winner I should give it a look.

    Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for checking out our latest page….though it is now already lost that title….lol. I have seen 27 of his movies…compared to your 10 and Flora’s 6. I have seen and enjoyed most of your favorites…with the exception of Kingsman 2….which I really really disliked…made my Top 10 Worst Movies that year. The English Patient was a one and done movie for me….so I do not think you are missing too much. Good feedback as always.

    1. Hey Dan. Great lists as always. Good to see Colin has such a nice overall ranking. That being said, I do acknowledge it is higher than I would have guessed. So Mark Strong is his most frequent co-star. Good to see Sir Caine sitting at the top of that massive list. 25 Oscar winners is about average for his career so far….I suspect it will be rising as time passes on. I wish Kingsman 2 was not here….still mad about (a) how they brought him back for the sequel and (b) the fact that they brought him back in the first place. Good stuff.

  5. So glad to see you added a comment box.

I have seen 6 Colin Firth movies.

The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is The King’s Speech.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is Mary Poppins Returns.

The LOWEST rated movie I have seen is Valmont.

I have enjoyed all of them, so instead of listing favourites, I will list them in order of preference:

The King’s Speech (which I saw on the big screen)
    The English Patient
Girl with the Pearl Earing (which I saw on the big screen)
    Love Actually
    Brigit Jones’s Diary
    Valmont

I have also seen the TV miniseries Pride and Prejudice.

    1. Hey Flora. Sorry, I forgot to add the comment box. I have seen 27 of his movies. I had no idea, that I had seen so many of his movies. I have seen all of your 6 seen….with The King’s Speech, and Love Actually being my favorites too. WoC and the girls went and saw Mary Poppins Returns….and they were not too impressed with that movie at all. Good feedback as always.
