  1. Hey Flora….thanks for stopping by and commenting….hope all is going well for you. So in our tally contest you are sitting in first place…though I did not get the finally tally from Lupino.

    Flora 7 movies watched
    Lupino 5 movies watched
    Steve 3 movies watched
    Cogerson 2 movies watched
    Helakoski 1 movie watched

I like your favorites…as they are the two that I have seen….one with one of my favorite actors and one with my favorite director. Seems Dust Be My Destiny is a movie making many of the comments….might have to find and watch that one. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

    1. Hi again,

seems I have to be more precise here: On top of the already mentioned PL movies I’ve seen: Four Daughters, Daughters Courageous, Yes,my Darling Daughter, Million Dollar Baby and her swansong Bodygard. I have discovered Priscilla more than 3 decades ago, so I had plenty of time 🙂

      1. Hey Lupino….thanks for the second tally count….so that now puts you in the lead

        Lupino 9 movies watched
        Flora 7 movies watched
        Steve 3 movies watched
        Cogerson 2 movies watched
        Helakoski 1 movie watched

Congrats on the top spot….but even your total is less 50% of her movies….lol.

        1. 🙂 The problem is- time!!! There is a life away from movies, thus 2 more Lane movies are sitting on the shelf waiting to be watched. The other thing is that, living in Germany, many classic films are simply not available. That has improved somewhat with the DVD format, since you have the possibility to order in foreign markets now- still the movie has to be released somewhere in the world, and I am not paying ANY price asked. For example, a Maureen O’Hara TV movie I’d like to see is priced at over 300 € currently…forget it! No TCM here, and I don’t do torrents. But, on the other hand, the hunting is a lot of fun!

          1. Hey Lupino….well…you could move to America…lol. Here the problem is finding the time to watch all the movies I want to watch. My area….has 7 pretty big cities…and each carries DVDs for free rental…I think the last time I looked they had almost 30,000 different titled movies…with some really specializing in classic movies. Needless to say my wallet is filled with library cards.

Yes indeed the hunt is fun….I know some of the movies I want to watch are sitting at YouTube just waiting for me to watch…but I rarely do it that way. Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes look at how you get your hands on these classic movies.

  2. Hey Lupino….you are welcome. When I looked at your suggestions….she was by far the easiest one for me to do quickly. First of all she only had 23 IMDb credits…then I saw that I already had 13 of her movies in my database…..so with only having to research 9 movies…Priscilla Lane went right to the front of the request line.

So that is at least 4 Lane movies you have seen….so I think you will do well in our tally contest….though I noticed Flora has a higher number. When I was doing the research for the “interesting facts” I noticed that it seemed her talents were noticed first….and that got her older sisters some nice breaks. Sounds like she had enough movie business when her Warner’s contract expired….but the Lane/Warner combo sure put some butts in the seats.

Glad you liked the page…and appreciate you sharing your thoughts on Priscilla Lane.

    1. Hey Helakoski….I think you are correct….you have seen the best Priscilla Lane movie…at least in my “Grant” biased mind…lol. I have seen Arsenic and Old Lace….and it is always a fun movie to watch.

  3. Hi

Priscilla Lane was the perfect next door girl type. She shone brightly for a few years, holding her own against Garfield, Cagney, Grant, but in the end it wasn’t enough. She wanted a husband and a family and that was the choice she made. She didn’t lack the talent but obviously lacked the desire for stardom.

    1. Hey Chris…thanks for sharing your thoughts on Priscilla Lane. The “Four” movies of the late 1930s are movies I see all the time when I am doing research….so I was glad to finally be able to get all the movies on one page. I imagine they might have been like the Twilight movies of our time….excluding the vampires and werewolves…lol. Just in regards…they were successful…and people liked them…just did not having a lasting impact on film buffs.

Yep…I agree….she decided on family versus movies…her last movie was at 33….an early retirement for sure. Thanks for commenting on the “perfect next door girl”. 🙂

  4. I have seen 7 of Lane’s career. Arsenic and Old Lace and Sabateur are my favourites.

I have also seen The Roaring Twenties, Four Daughters, Brother Rat, Brother Rat and a Baby, and Dust Be My Destiny.
