Why I watched this one? Love Star Trek….and I heard good things about this one.
What is this one about? The USS Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
My thoughts on this one? Loved this movie. I have not enjoyed a Star Trek movie this much since Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. This is a return to the Star Trek universe that trekkies will love. About the only negative I have is that once again the Enterprise perishes. Seems the new Captain Kirk has had a problem keeping the Enterprise from crashing. Loved how the movie used the memory of Leonard Nimoy’s Spock to help finally after three movies merge with the Shatner Star Trek movies. The mentions of Nimoy’s Spock gave the movie an emotional quality that Star Trek movies do not normally have. Loved all the returning cast members. I liked the villain and I really liked a newly introduced character…Sofia Boutella’s Jaylah. Final thought: One of my favorite movies of 2016.
