UMR Review of Uncharted (2022)
Since becoming an adult, I have not played too many video games. Uncharted is one of those few that I have played. I actually played all the games with both of my youngest children. We love the Nathan Drake character..not to mention Sully. So, when this finally made it to the big screen, we all went to see it in theaters as a family.
In this one, Tom Holland gets to play Nathan. Mark Wahlberg gets to be Sully. Holland and Wahlberg picking on each is the best part of the movie. The action scenes are well done, but nowhere near as intense as they were in the video game.
On the negative side….the story is forgettable….as it has been told many times before. Sophia Ali is given little to do in the main female role. The females in the game were pretty awesome. Sadly, that does not occur in the movie. Antonio Banderas has some good moments as the villain. I wish his part would have been much bigger.
Final thought: An entertaining movie…though far from a great movie. I would bet a second Uncharted franchise will be much better. Judging by the success of this one, I think we will all find out if I am right or not.
Okay, 3 stars or 6/10 on IMDB.
