  1. I am surprised that he only made that many movies as well. In The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone he had a sleezye role but he played it well. I have seen just about all his movies. Interesting that he was born in Virginia but I was aware of that fact. Good site as well. Thanks for the info.

    1. Hey Bern 1960….yes he output is pretty low…..but he has managed to have a decent career. I doubt younger people realize just how big he was in the 1970s and 1980s. Yep born only a little bit down the road from us. Thanks for the nice words and the visit.

  2. Warren Beatty’s 22 films makes a change from the epic pages you’ve been posting recently Bruce. And a lot less controversial. [wink]

Not the most prolific actor/director was he? By comparison Nicolas Cage has appeared in 30 films in the last 10 years! [cue gasps] And all quality of course. [sniggers]

Sorry to say I’m not the biggest Beatty fan in fact I’ve only seen 6 of the 22 films listed here – Bonnie & Clyde, Shampoo, Heaven Can Wait, Ishtar, Dick Tracy and Bugsy. I may have seen Kaleidoscope, cannot remember it.

Movies I’m interested in seeing – The Fortune, Reds and Bulworth.

Looking at trivia – Beatty as Superman… mmm no can’t see it, that other contender Charles Bronson plus moustache… yeah might be an acceptable Man of Steel. Beatty as Paul Newman’s sidekick in Butch Cassidy and The Sting? Yeah sure why not.

    Good work Bruce. Voted Up!

    1. Hey Steve.
      1. His tally is shockingly low. Since hitting it big with Bonnie Clyde he only made 14 more movies…and that almost covers 50 years now.
      2. Speaking of tally….tally count me 15,Flora 10, you 6….I just want to thank the academy…..
      3. Nicolas Cage could knock out 14 movies in 3 or 4 years….and maybe a couple of them would be good.
      4. Of the ones you have not seen….Reds is a long hard boring movie to finish….The Fortune despite the combo of Jack and Warren is not very good. Bulworth is interesting and that campaign movie is currently very timely.
      5. He turned down some major roles.
      6. Thanks for the (1) visit (2) the comment and (3) the vote up….all are greatly appreciated.

  3. I prefer his sister’s career.

I saw Lillith last nigh before I went to choir because of Peter Fonda’s supporting role which he auditioned for because he wanted the more challenging role than the lead and he got what he wanted. Great film on the dangers of a therapist not remaining neutral.

I have seen 10 of his movies only.

    Happy birthday Mr. Beatty.
My favourite Beatty movie is Heaven Can Wait, the remake of Here Comes Mr. Jordan.

    1. Hey Flora. Thanks for checking out my Warren Beatty page. Lillith is one of Beatty and Hackman’s first movies. I will have to check that one out. Interesting about Fonda. Let’s see tally count…Flora 10, Steve 6 and me 15…..yeah…I have not won of these in awhile. Heaven Can Wait is a very good movie. We (the wife and I) just re-watched Here Comes Mr. Jordan….and now we want to re-watch Heaven Can Wait. As always…thanks for sharing your movie thoughts.

  4. Only 22 movies in a 56 year career? I did not realize Beatty that he had appeared in so few movies. Last one was 15 years ago? I guess Town and Country killed his career.

    1. Town and Country was a huge bomb….losing a ton of money. Despite that I think if he wanted…he could have done more movies over the last 15 years. He actually has a finished untitled movie on IMDb. That could be interesting. A one point he was trying to get his old buddy Jack Nicholson in the movie. Thanks for the visit.
