Why I saw this one? Figure this is now the leading contender to win the Best Picture Oscar….so I figured I should see it….and based on it’s outstanding opening weekend box office, I was not the only one thinking that way.

What is this one about? Two young British soldiers during the First World War are given an impossible mission: deliver a message deep in enemy territory that will stop 1,600 men, and one of the soldiers’ brothers, from walking straight into a deadly trap. Movie looks like it was filmed in a single take.

My thoughts on this one? This is master movie making. The behind the scenes talent have hit a home run here. This is a visually stunning movie. The movie will make you wonder how they accomplished some of the scenes. George MacKay, in the leading role, is easy to pull for. There is a scene near the end of the movie that had my heart beating very fast, as his character makes a decision that puts him in harm’s way. On the negative side, some of the twist and turns were not too believable….and could have been avoided, if our heroes would have just kept going, versus trying to investigate places that find along the way of their adventure. That minor complaint does not diminish the movie too much. Final thought: A movie that needs to be seen.

Thanks for stopping by Anonymous. End Game was great, but 1917 was more impressive as a movie…..so glad Roger Deakins won his 2nd Oscar for this one. It is worth checking out.
