To make this list a movie had to be made in 1977.  This page ranks at 127 1977 Movies.  The movies are ranked by using a mathematical formula that uses box office grosses, reviews and awards.    A score of 100 is perfect…less than 10 is horrible.   Any movie with a score over 60 could be considered a good movie.  This only represents about 33% of the movies made in 1977….but should cover the top box office movies.

  1. Hey Max…box office mojo uses the box office rental number for their gross…..they do not turn that number into a gross….so they significantly lower the adjusted gross….The Deep was a monster (Jaws reference….lol) hit. Being a Top 10 hit…..so I feel pretty good about our calculations. Thanks for the mini-review on The Deep. Good stuff.

  2. Hi Bruce, very interesting 1977 review as usual !
You made me discover the movie “The Deep” which is not so good but fun to see that it comes from a novel from Peter Benchley who also wrote Jaws !
I just wanted to know how you came with the 340 million $ domestic gross because on Bom the domestic total adjusted is 190 million $….Why such a difference ? Was the movie re-released ?

    Thanks 😉
