Richard Fleischer has directed some of my top favorites.

I’ve seen 16 of the 41 films on the chart. My favorites are – 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Vikings, Fantastic Voyage, Soylent Green, Mr. Majestyk, Tora! Tora! Tora! and two guilty favorites – Conan the Destroyer and Red Sonja.

Looking at the charts – Captain Nemo wins at the box office and UMR chart but is beaten by a narrow margin by The Narrow Margin on the critics chart.

Enjoyed the trivia – yep Disney hired the son of his greatest competitor to direct 20,000 Leagues, one of the biggest hits of the 1950s.

    Good work Bruce. Vote Up!

Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our Richard Fleischer page. Tally counts: Steve 16, Cogerson 15 and Flora at 14. Interesting…16-15-14. That does not happen much. I figured he would be interesting to you. I actually listened to his DVD commentary on Soylent Green the other day and looked up his career. I was surprised he had such a wonderful career. I actually talk about his dad in my Technology class (Max was the real genius in animation…versus Walt…at least with innovations)…..no idea of that connection until doing this page. I have seen all of your favorites….with Soylent Green, Tora Tora Tora and The Vikings on my favorites as well. 20,000 Leagues Under A Fantastic Voyage are classics as well. I did not realize The Narrow Margin was rated so high…maybe I should check that one out. Good stuff as always.
