  1. I saw 2. she won triple crown of acting: emmy, tony, Oscar. a touch of class for which she won one of her 2 best acting Oscars is her second to lowest letterbox rated at 2.9, a disaster.

    1. Hey bob cox….2 is about what everybody else had for their tally counts. Yep…she has the Triple Crown of acting. I am surprised A Touch Of Class is so lowly rated at Letterboxd.com. We have it at 77%….which is pretty good. I liked the movie…as I thought Jackson and George Segal had a nice screen chemistry together. Now if you had said their second out together (Lost and Found) was that lowly rated I would understand 100%. Lost and Found does feature one of the first screen appearances by John Candy. Good stuff…and good to hear from you.

  2. Consistent with the opening paragraphs above Glenda Jackson Commander of the Order of the British Empire [Steve might well expect us to show respect for the English political establishment by giving Glenda her full title] has probably been better-known in recent times as a politician than as a movie star.

Indeed she was a junior Transport Minister in Tony Blair’s government from 1997-1999. She resigned from that government first unsuccessfully to become a candidate for the office of Mayor of London and then to become a constant critic of Mr Blair over education policy, Glenda being more to the left of British politics whereas Mr Blair although a Labour prime minister and not connected with the Conservative Party has long been regarded by many as in effect a conservative with a small-c.

IMDB credits Glenda with 18 acting awards and 17 nominations and she has a reported net worth of $2.5 million. Your choice of Glenda for a new page was I think a good one Bruce and is “Voted Up!” though I have seen just 5 of her movies – Mary Queen of Scots/Hopscotch/Women in Love/A Touch of Class/ and 1971’s The Music Lovers – a film perceived back then as so raunchy that in unison parts of audiences over here got up, banged their seats loudly in disgust and angrily left the cinema about half-way through.

    1. Hey Bob….thanks for this additional background to her political career. Lots of good information….including her full title. Thanks for the tally count…your 5 puts you in pretty good standing….as you are tied with me. Good stuff.
