  1. Ann Harding was as the saying goes “before my time” so I have seen her in just one movie: The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit starring Royal Dano whom some people often confuse with Greg Peck only better-looking than Greg [sorry Flora -I’m only trying to tease The Work Horse!].

That movie was as the tables above show released in 1956 the year of Ann’s final big-screen movie Strange Intruder top-starring the professionally ill-fated Edmund Purdom with the fading Ida Lupino as his leading lady

Edmund is most talked about today as the star who replaced Brando in the title role of The Egyptian when the Great Mumbler walked out on the movie and to avoid litigation had to play Napoleon in Desiree [Joel Hirschhorn’s favourite film].

Coincidentally both Desiree and The Egyptian have an identical adjusted domestic gross in Bruce’s 1954 Annual Review charts: $256 million out-grossing Marlon’s much-lauded On the Waterfront that year. WH gives Desiree a slightly higher review rating than he does The Egyptian– 67% to 65% so it’s good to see Marlon getting an occasional albeit tiny bit of Cogerson Love.

Overlapping with the final years of Ann’s cinematic career was her TV one during which she made around 30 projects from 1951-1965 though unfortunately I saw none of them.

As Bruce says above Ann enjoyed stage success too and Wikipedia highlights 9 of her appearances “treading the boards” from 1921 until 1964 – some longevity! In her final 1964 play Abraham Cochrane she played a character called MYRA Holliday – close enough to dictate a mention on the Cogerson site!!

    1. Hey Dan. As always thanks for the feedback and the trivia lists. Both lists are way shorter than normal. Keenan Wynn is somebody that has almost gotten an UMR page. He is in the famous 1949 MGM photo of all the stars (he is in the back row..right side)….I have always wanted to do an UMR page on all of those people in the photo. There are 58 stars in that photo. I am currently sitting at 35 done….so only 23 to go.

The second list has more than the first list….that does not happen too often. Paris Bound with Fredric March was one of the newer entries into the data….not thinking a movie that is 92 years old gets “new” attached to it many times…lol. Good stuff as always.

  3. I have seen 12 Ann Harding movies.

The HIGHEST rated film i have seen is The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is Janie.

The LOWEST ranked movie I have seen is Biography of a Bachelor Girl.

    Favourite Ann Harding movies:

The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit
    Holiday
    The North Star
    Two Weeks with Love
    Condemned!
    It Happened On Fifth Avenue
    When Ladies Meet
    Double Harness

Other Ann Harding Movies I Have Seen:

    Westward Passage
    The Animal Kingdom
    Biography of a Bachelor Girl

    1. Hey Flora. Thanks for the visit and the comment. I have only seen one of her movies. That was during a Gregory Peck time when I was watching lots of his movies….that one is of course The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. So your 12 destroys me in the tally contest. I am actually not even sure I was really aware of her at all. It was only when seeing that she got an Oscar nomination for Holiday that she caught my eye. I was confused about her version of Holiday…as I was only aware of the Cary Grant/Katharine Hepburn version….apparently her version is considered to be the better of the two versions. Good to see so many of her movies seen, made your favorites list….75% of them. I guess I should see more of her movies. Good stuff as always.
