UMR Review of A Quiet Place: Part II

I am a huge fan of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. I was very happy when A Quiet Place turned into such a success. When I finally saw that movie, I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed…maybe my expectations were too high?

So going into this one, my expectations were much lower…and low and behold I enjoyed this sequel more. This is the type of movie that when it ends you are somewhat disappointed because you want to see more of this movie world.

The good stuff: The opening scenes are very well done and very intense. All of the roles are well cast and all of the cast excels in their roles. The performance I enjoyed the most was Cillian Murphy’s part. I am not a huge fan of his, but in this one he really impressed me. Blunt is solid as always…as is Millicent Simmonds.

The bad stuff: The ending seems rushed. Like all sequels…..the movie decides to split up the band. The family that we grew to care about in the first one, is basically split up with each family member getting their own adventure. Remember how in the Matrix 3, the original trilogy in Matrix 1 was barely together in the finale? Well that is what happens here. I wish they would have done their adventures together.

Final thought: I liked this one more than the original.
