  1. Djimon Hounsou eh, nice. He has been a busy actor since Stargate, the first film I saw him in. And Amistad, the film that kick-started his career.

I’ve seen 21 of the 38 films on chart, favorites include – Gladiator, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Tarzan, Furious 7, Aquaman, Shazam, Seventh Son, Blood Diamond, Stargate, Lara Croft, Constantine, The Island and How to Train Your Dragon.

Djimon has appeared in some very successful films making him one of the most recognisable actors in the world. I don’t think he’s had a starring role yet, or has he?

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our latest page. I’ve actually seen 28 of his movies, compared to your 21. I’ve seen all of your favorites that you listed. I enjoyed all of them some more than others. My favorites would include Guardians, Stargate, Gladiator and Shazam. You might be right he has not had many starring roles, but he has excelled in his mini supporting roles. As always good stuff.

    1. Hey Dan. That is indeed interesting that he is 581st on both lists. Surprised he is so highly rated on the Oracle list. But I guess being in superhero movies connect you to a lot of people. Looking at the first list good to see one of my favorites, Kurt Russell, as his most frequent Oracle costar Piri on the second list, I’m surprise he’s work with that many Oscar winners as always these lists provide great information in there. Continue to stay safe and healthy in New York.

  3. This page really let me focus in on him. Seen a lot of his movies. I actually did realize the Gladiator guy was the guy in Shazam. Makes me feel slightly dumb that I did not immediately know that, much less almost a year later.

    1. Hey Taylor. Glad our new page to help you see the light. I wouldn’t be too upset about not recognizing him in he’s in his early and roles. As always your feedback is greatly appreciated.

  4. 4/In the 30 years from 1990-2019 Djimon appeared in 9 television productions. He is currently involved in the filming of the animated TV production “What If” in which in voice participation he is in the heady company of the likes of Michael Douglas/Jeff Goldblum and [again] Samuel L Jackson. Here’s what IMDB has to say about it “Exploring pivotal moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turning them on their head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.” Steve is probably already throbbing with anticipation! This series too is being lined up for a hopeful 2021 release.

5/IMDB credits Djimon with 16 acting awards and 21 noms and he has a reported current personal net worth of $12 million.

6/In his writeups above Bruce touches on Djimon’s involvement with music videos and modeling work; and in fact in 2007 he was announced as the new model for Calvin Klein underwear – Djimon that is : not Bruce!

A good learning curve for me so gratefully received Work Horse.

    1. Hey Bob. Good information on your second part of the comment. He has been very busy both on the little screen and the big screen. I think his story, from being homeless to supermodel to world known actor is pretty impressive. Once again, good stuff.

      1. HI BRUCE

Thanks for the feedback. My ‘speciality’ is as you know more the classic era cinema than the modern one so many of your new pages are drawing to my attention – and giving me the opportunity to familiarise myself with – thespians who are topical today.

  5. 1/It’s good to see a Beninese-American thespian receiving a Cogerson page adding to the rich variety of movie stars already getting coverage on this site so “Voted Up!”

2/The Djimon movies that I have seen are Unlawful Entry; Blood Diamond; Gladiator and [with my grandchildren] Guardians of the Galaxy.

3/Djimon has 2 further movies in the pipeline: (1) at post productions stage for intended Sept 2020 release The King’s Man an action/adventure production with a cast that includes Ralph Fiennes (2) just announced for 2021 release is Blazing Samurai an animated production movie in which Djimon will share voice roles with the likes of Samuel L Jackson and Mel Brooks [who seems to be dining out once again on his Blazing Saddles glory!]

    1. Hey Bob, thanks for checking on our latest page. Thanks for sharing the ones you have seen, Kurt Russell’s Unlawful Entry was a surprise hit back in the day, but I do not remember Djimon’s part in that movie. Thanks for the information on his upcoming projects, who knows when they actually get to theaters. Good stuff.
