Angelina Jolie Movies

Want to know the best Angelina Jolie movies?  How about the worst Angelina Jolie movies?  Curious about Angelina Jolie’s box office grosses or which Angelina Jolie movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Angelina Jolie movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

Angelina Jolie (1975-) is probably one of the most famous people in the world….but how did she get there?……let’s see….first of all Jolie is the daughter of Oscar® winning actor, Jon Voight….not a bad start. She has appeared in over 30 theatrical movies and has won an Oscar® and 3 Golden Globe® awards. She has had box office success with two Tomb Raider movies, two Kung Fu Panda movies, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Maleficent.  She is an UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. She has been in some high profile relationships with actors Billy Bob Thornton and some guy named Brad Pitt. And of course she is a very sexy woman. So other than good looks, box office success, acting ability, friends and family in high places and being a humanitarian …I just can’t figure it out.

Her IMDb page shows over 55 acting credits since 1982. This page will rank Angelina Jolie movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings.

  1. CHEERS BRUCE
1 I always gave Angelina great credit for her humanitarian work but felt that she was over-rated as a top star because although she had some fine stand-alone hits with the likes of Maleficent, Salt and the Lara Croft films in many of her movies she has just voice roles or supporting parts and if you take away even only the voice roles her overall adjusted domestic gross falls below $2 billion which is less than half of for example Julia Roberts’ corresponding figure.

2 However it would seem that there is something that I am missing because you have ranked her 20th in your 25 Greatest Actresses list (1950-2010) the selective Clint Eastwood was happy to direct her in Changeling and Johnny Depp accepted 2nd billing to her in The Tourist, which I enjoyed despite it receiving mixed reviews with for example you giving it only 40% critic/audience rating whereas IMDB hands it a respectable 60%. By the way have you noticed that the posters for Sky Captain make use of the exciting compromise billing that was agreed by the stars of Spielberg’s Always?

PS For a small private exercise I have been doing I have been consulting your Greatest Musicals page a lot over the past week and in fact have used it often before so if I haven’t previously complimented you on how comprehensive a document it is I should have done so as I have consistently found it most helpful.

PPS You had tackled so many subjects that your old index was becoming quite convoluted and the ‘new look’ one makes for faster searches. Good idea to split it and organise it the way you now have.

    1. Hey Bob.
      1. Her humanitarian is work is truly impressive.
      2. Her early career was not too impressive at all…..before Brad Pitt…you could actually say it was very very weak.
      3. As for why she made my Top 25….I think her celebrity status carried the day….like Monroe and Kelly did for the AFI Top 25….no matter what she does the rest of her career….when people look back at her era….the name Angelina Jolie will be one of the first ones mentioned….even if her career was not as stellar compared to others of that era.
      4. Yes I have noticed the Sky Captain poster…still not changing my mind….lol.
      5. Thanks for the nice words about my Music Page….glad you are able to use it as a source.
      6. Glad you like the new site index…..eventually they will have to be put in separate A to Z pages but that is something for later down the road.
As always…thanks for stopping by and talking movies…..and now I go to work.

  2. I do like Angelina very much. Her movies are all great, but I especially liked “Girl Interrupted,” with Wynona Ryder. AJ played that part so well.

Now I have an interesting tidbit of info for you….well, I think it’s interesting! Rudy Halicki wrote “Gone In 60 Seconds.”..produced and directed his OWN original version of the movie. Anyway….he and his large family lived only minutes from where I grew up, in Chautauqua County. He and his siblings went to school in the same city I attended (different schools). I did not have the opportunity to meet Rudy….but I knew his brother Frank, really well. Most of the family still lives in the area…..I guess you’d have to know our small-town area to understand what a HUGE deal this was when Rudy made it to Hollywood…(with HIS version of his movie) He was killed tragically in an accident on the movie set. “Rudy” was his.nickname

    1. Hey Alecia….thanks for the visit….I have not seen much of her 90s work….she is not my favorite actress as well….but my two oldest kids….both boys…..were madly in love with her….my oldest….now 24…for awhile wanted to marry her…..I guess you gotta have dreams…..lol.

I agree with you about her humanitarian activities….it is indeed very impressive.

  3. I’ve seen her 90s work and I think it was probably her most honest work. I always find young actors working their way up more engaging than anything. Sometimes when an actor reaches the mountaintop they settle for trite paycheck films that don’t serve a purpose other than getting them paid.

She’s not my favorite actress but I think her humanitarian efforts are to be commended. Nice read Cogerson :).

  4. A nice updating of this old page Bruce, Jolie looks as gorgeous as ever! 🙂

Good to see Mr and Mrs Smith at the top of your Moviescore, really enjoyed that one. Wanted too. And Tomb Raider and Salt etc

I’ve seen 15 of the 26 films you’ve listed, not as many as I expected.

9 from the box office top 10 and 7 from the critics 10.

The critics 3 I haven’t seen are Mighty Heart, Playing By Heart and The Good Shepherd which I never completed, I was going to see the second half the next day and never bothered. 🙂

Excellent work Bruce, lots of facts here, looking forward to your Milla Jovovovich Moviescore Hub. I have a Milla poster page lined up for future publication, mmmm. 🙂

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for coming back and checking out my newly remoded page….some how this page had become one of my least viewed page….and considered how popular she is….I think the blame had to fall on the writer of the hub…so hopefully this will help generate some more views.

I have seen 14 of the 26 live action films….and 3 of the 4 voice roles from her….for a 57% viewing percentage. To get that percentage up and I am going to have to watch more of earlier work….plus I have not seen either one of the Tomb Raider movies….not sure how I have accomplished that….thanks for stopping by.

    1. Hey jainismus ….thanks for checking out my remodeled page on one of your favorite actresses.
