  1. So, Annette Bening was almost the big screen’s second Catwoman, Lee Meriwether got there first in the 1966 Batman. She’s not as pretty as Michelle Pfeiffer but she could have been an effective feline foil for Bruce Wayne.

I have to confess to not seeing The American President (cue gasps) I guess it just didn’t seem interesting enough for me to check out 20 years ago. I would probably enjoy it more now than I would have then. But I did like Kevin Kline in Dave, do I get any points for that? 🙂

I’ve seen 10 of the 27 films listed, favorites include American Beauty, Bugsy, Mars Attacks and The Grifters. You can bin the rest [Stop it Steve!]

The Siege was a disappointment, The Great Outdoors I barely remember, Richard III had its moments, Open Range was a decent western, Guilty By Suspicion was merely ok and Regarding Henry was a gigantic bore.

Another fascinating movie page Bruce. Voted Up!

    1. Hey Steve.
      1. As always thanks for taking the time to check out our latest page.
      2. She was pretty sexy in The Grifters…..she might have been able to make Catwoman even sexier than Pfeiffer….and Anne Hathaway.
      3. What! You have not seen The American President! Shame shame shame. It is actually pretty entertaining….one of Rob Reiner’s best movies.
      4. If you liked Dave…..then you will like The American President. Just checked with Wife of Cogerson…she says you are now on “double secret probation”…know the movie?
      5. Tally count…me/USA 23….you/England 10…..and Flora/Canada….my eyes are watering up as I hear our National Anthem….proud day.
      6. I like all the ones you like with the exception of Mars Attacks….I found that one disappointing. I think Regarding Henry is when Harrison Ford’s career finally hit a pot hole in the road.
Thanks for the votes up and the comment.

      1. Haha tell Wife of Cogerson I have added The American President to my ever-growing ‘Should Watch’ movies list. The quote was from Animal House, a film I’ve watched many times.
23 Annette Bening films? Bruce are you lead member of her fan club? 🙂 I agree she was sexy in The Grifters. Btw does she take her kit off in American President? [Wife of Cogerson shakes her head]. It’s an innocent question. 🙂

        1. Hey Steve…. No nudity in American President, sorry….. You are of course right, that is animal house. Your willingness to watch the movie moves you back to single secret probation. Sure, Bruce will be the president of the club, but he doesn’t think he’d watch a movie simply because she is in it. She does tend to have great co-stars.

As told by Cogerson and typed by WifeOfCogerson as we drive to Williamsburg for a day at the University library to research more movies. ‘Cause movies.

….and you’re still on double-secret probation on my list. American President is full of hysterical one-liners. WoC

          1. WELL-

Steve has still not seen THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES……..I lave seen it about 200 times.

          2. Hey Flora….one day….one day….one day Steve will see the light. Wow I did not realize that you had seen Best Years Of Our Lives so many times.

          3. Bruce:

The Best years of Our lives is number 2 of my Dana Andrews films, just behind laura.

          4. Hey Flora….both are classic movies….I actually picked up a biography on Dana Andrews yesterday….that means his page is starting to gain some traction.

  2. I love The American President too, Wife of Cogerson! I saw it on the big screen when it came out. There are a lot of my favourites in this movie.
It’s my favourite of Benning’s films. Glad to see another actress, Bruce.

Glad to see Wife of Cogerson getting another request too.

I have seen 8 of her films so far – not a whole lot, I know.

The highest ranked film I have seen is Number 1: American Beauty which I also love.

There is actually only one film I have seen of hers that I don’t like and that has more to do with when I saw it than anything else. If you want to know what it is or why I’m email you.

I have seen all her films with husband Beatty.
    Flora

    1. Hey Flora.
      1. You and Debbie are in the same boat….she watches The American President at least twice a year…..so people have comfort food….she has a comfort movie.
      2. I figure I have to make my tech support happy….I did not really realize she had requested a Bening page….she had mentioned Bening a few times…..I just did not realize that it was a request….I mean…come on…we have a request page……lol.
      3. 8 is pretty good…especially with your post 1976 movie role….I am at 23….only 4 that I have not seen….actually pretty surprised I have seen so many of her movies.
      4. I have seen Postcards From The Edge…..but have to admit…I do not remember her part at all….though I know it is a small part at best
      5. Send an e-mail about the one you did not like.
      6. I was not much of a fan of American Beauty……..but it might be time to revisit that one…I saw it once many years ago…..many I will appreciate it more now.
As always thanks for sharing your movie knowledge.

  3. Seems she slowed down after marrying Beatty. Four Academy Award nominations is pretty impressive. Thinking she has a last hurrah left. Another wining page.

    1. Hey Stein. I think it was the combo of her getting older…and getting married and having children that slowed down her acting career. But she seems to be back now…I think she has 3 or 4 projects in different stages of production currently…so you might be right….a last Oscar hurrah might be coming. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

    1. No thank you Wife of Cogerson….you have made running this website so very very easy. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.

  4. Been a fan of hers ever since she blew me away in the Grifters. In her role in the Grifters was so different than the rest of her movies. Wonderful actress. Nice job as always.

    1. Hey Helakoski. Interesting….you are right about her role in The Grifters. Her parts did go from the wild sexy girl willing to do anything for money to respectable woman of the world pretty quickly. But she has Oscar nominations for both types of roles. Thanks for the nice words.
