  1. I have seen 7 of the Chris Cooper films listed above and I enjoyed him most in 1991 Guilty by Suspicion as Larry Nolan whose “naming names” to McCarthy’s Anti-American Activities Committee ultimately drives his wife to suicide. The whole 7 are

    Guilty by Suspicion
    A Time to Kill
    Horse Whisperer
    American Beauty
    The Patriot
    The Company Men
Lone Star – his only lead role in the 7
    .
Chris has appeared in 15 television productions and made one video game. He is set to appear in a second series of Julia Roberts’ TV psychological thriller Homecoming the first 10 episode series of which aired in Nov 2018. The release date for the 2nd series is to be announced soon.

On the big screen Chris has at post production stage a supporting role in Irresistible [a comedy drama] and announced for him is the lead in a musical drama Light on Broken Glass. IMDB credits Chris with 35 acting awards and 45 noms; and he has a current reported net worth of $10 million. Although a lot of the titles listed above probably wouldn’t appeal to me I admire Chris as an actor and would like to see more of him so “Vote Up!” [I applaud the Beautiful Day/Neighboiurhood still]

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for your thoughts and information on Chris Cooper. Guilty by suspicion is actually sitting on our DVD rack right now unwrapped and not watched. This might be the perfect time to watch it. Thanks for your tally count any information on his awards and net worth.I’ve seen all seven of the ones you have seen, and you’re right that is one of the few leading roles in Lonestar. He actually does not have any of those but breach would be another one that I am aware of. Good stuff is always hope you’re not getting to stir crazy

      1. HI BRUCE Thanks for your feedback. If you watch Guilty by Suspicion I’d be pleased to have your opinion of it. One maybe has to know a bit about Hollywood’s relationship with Uncle Joe and his un American Activities Committee to undestand some of the references in it.

Watch out for covert criticism of Gary Cooper for grovelling to the Committee. Great lines are “This guy thinks real life is a cowboy picture.” and “Did you ever see Cooper up there on the screen having to pay a medical bill David?” And of course there’s much bawling and yelling about who is a “real American” and who isn’t; and I loved the line “If THAT’s what a real American is then I don’t want to be one!” THAT particular sequence is one of my own all time faves in movies.

Your sources give it just a so-so 67% which is almost identical to IMDB’s 66%; but I would award 80% and indeed I have watched it 6 times over the years. However as it was made in 1991 and therefore too late for The Master’s 1983 book we don’t have him to intervene and settle any dispute between us! Thanks for your good wishes and keep safe yourself.

        1. Hey Bob. Strong words if support for Guilty by Suspicion.I will let you know what I think of it when I watch it. I have a movie on in the background as I work today and it was horrible. Protocol with Goldie Hawn has not aged well. So Guilty by Suspicion has to be better. 6 times? You must really like it.

        2. Hey Bob thanks for the mini review and the heads up on guilty by suspicion. Not sure if I’m gonna watch it tonight, but it should be in the near future. Thanks again.

    1. Hey Dan….thanks for sharing your lists on Chris Cooper. A couple of nights ago WoC and I watched A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood…..and after it ended she was asking about Cooper and trying to figure out how she knew him….so she said…let’s look at your page on him…which at the time…it did not exist…but it does now.

His Oracle ranking is about where I would have guessed. Not too bad for a guy that did not make his film debut until he was 36. Lots of three peats when looking at the first list….including lots of Oscar winners…Damon,DeNiro, Streep, Affleck…whoops…just saw Catherine Keener with 4 movies…so she is the leader. Looking at the second list….40 Oscar winning co-stars is pretty good…..it impresses me. Good stuff as always. Stay safe and healthy.

  3. When I see Chris Cooper’s name the film that comes to mind first is American Beauty, Sam Mendes big Oscar winner.

I’ve seen 18 of the 44 films on the chart. Favorites are – American Beauty, The Patriot, Cars 3, A Time to Kill, Amazing Spider-Man 2, Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Syriana and The Kingdom.

Surprised to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 not topping Bourne Supremacy and American Beauty at the domestic B.O.

    Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for checking out our new Chris Cooper page. I think his role in American Beauty is the one most film fans know him from. I was not and am still not a big fan of that one. I have seen 31 of his movies. Including every one of your favorites. I do not remember his part in The Kingdom. As for Amazing Spider-Man 2….it did alright at the box office…..but not enough to get a third Spidey movie from that group. It’s somewhat slight box office got Tom Holland the Spidey role…..now Tom’s movies are breaking the bank. Good stuff as always. FYI….for the longest time I got Chris Cooper and character actor Chris Mulkey (The Hidden might be his most famous role) mixed up.
